CHAPTER 4

Finally, it’s the termination of the week and by now the days were going good, I mean Lucifer has not said any harsh words ever since he fell sick and has changed over a bit. After a long lasting day, I was on bed drained with the household tasks I did today. People in other places look forward to weekends but I look forward to week days, my history with weekends have never been nice, they either pass by listening to unforgiving words of Lucifer or saving my sanity when his workmates come for drinking.

It was midnight when I suddenly felt thirsty and the water in the jug has finished. Not wanting to go downstairs I tried going back to sleep but it was like the body needed water more than rest. I drowsily got up and went to the kitchen downstairs, while drinking water I heard voices from the living room as if some people where murmuring. Without any warning I hide behind the doors that were connected to the living room trying to eavesdrop what kind of discussion Lucifer and his best friend were having.

After standing there for while it was pointless to overhear because they were discussing about work issues. Just about to leave I heard something which made me stop dead in tracks, Lucifer said “Mike I think your right I should give Helen a chance to describe what had happened that night” Mike was shocked to learn that Lucifer was thinking about it. After overcoming with the shock, Mike asked “Lucifer what has made you change your mind? I mean I had tried to explain you since a very long time to give that child a chance to explain what had happened but you would always deny it”. Regarding on what Mike has said he told him what has changed his attitude towards Helen “remember Mike a few days ago I had gotten injured badly with the tree branch that suddenly fell from the tree and came home to take rest. I was very scrawny to do anything so I decided to lay down a bit and once I gain some strength I would clean up and bandage the wounds but then again I don’t know when I fell asleep and woke up when Helen was cleaning my wounds and applying the tonic her mother would always prepare for me if I got hurt and wouldn’t want it to be infective. I mean I was shocked would be an understatement cause not only did I treat her badly after her mother passed away but also ignored the torture she went through when people from work would get drank n try to abuse her”.

I was stunned to hear Lucifer saying something good about me and that to with my real name or else I was used to hear inappropriate names. I stood there for a while thinking about what I had just heard, Mike was my mother’s first cousin and David’s father so like that he took me as his daughter and supported me. Uncle Mike was the reason my mother and Lucifer met and from then you guys know about it. I was bought back to this world when I heard Lucifer saying “ I think I will talk to her tomorrow as it is too late now and she might be tired and sleeping plus its her birthday tomorrow. I guess I will let her take rest tomorrow and tell all the guys to not come home at night”. Mike was so happy to learn the change in Lucifer and was expecting transformation in his behavior towards Helen. Then Mike said “ she is going to be 12 and she is more then talented and intelligent for her age I guess you should think about her education now”.

After this conversions they started talking about business and I left from there having a determination to clear the doubts Lucifer has towards me. I was still traumatized that Lucifer’s demeanors was related to the night my mother left this world.
