Aria trudged down the steps with confusion setting in. She was about to pass the library when she saw ,once again, the boy with the blonde hair who was standing with his back against the wall. She turned back towards him and was standing right in front of the doorway. Her mouth opened and she began to speak but Draco covered her mouth and pushed her against the wall.
"What was that for?" she whispered.
"Shhhh. Christina's talking to someone in there. It sounds important. She's been acting weird all summer and I want to know what's up."
Aria fell silent and they both listened in on the conversation going on in the room next to them. Christina began speaking in a concerned tone "You know I can't just break away from my family for you."
"I'm sure you can manage," came a muffled voice.
"No. I'm tired of being your little servant girl who's just there to get your dirty work out of the way."
"If you join me I can always change that."
"I just....I can't do it. Not to Aria."
"I can give you anything you want Christina. If you join me, I can make your wildest dreams come true."
"That sounds like a bribe."
"Call it what you will but I just hope that you're a smart negotiator and will realize a good deal when you see one."
"I can't just drop everything now and leave my family just to go work for you as a henchman."
"I don't want you as my henchman. I want you as my right hand woman. You can see it more as you won't be bowing to me anymore. Because....the people will be bowing to you. Their queen."
"What are you suggesting?"
"Not that I want to marry you or anything. More that I want you to rule by my side as the dark mistress."
"But what about Aria and Anastasia. They need me now more than ever and I can't just leave them behind."
"Don't view it as leaving them behind. More like temporary vacation. You can return to them, or...your stubborn sisters can join us and rule along side you."
"No. They wouldn't accept."
"If you don't take this deal, I will be losing valuable pieces in my army and I need a strong chance at winning this war. Without you there I will be forced to use other means of getting you to join."
"You mean..."
"Yes Christina. I have connections. I can find your sisters and get rid of them with the blink of an eye unless you join me."
"So these are your means of recruiting me as your 'queen' bribery and threats?"
"Whatever it will take."
"Fine."
"What?"
"I'll do it."
"Perfec-"
"On one condition."
"What is this condition?"
"That you leave my sisters out of this. Otherwise I will be proud to rule next to you."
"Pleasure doing business with you." the figure said most likely reaching out to shake her hand. Then there was a flash of light and they guessed that the man was gone. It was at that moment that they heard Christina's heeled boots clacking on the floors and they panicked. They rushed down the hall and pretended that they were just now walking down the hall. However, Aria was slow to make it down the hall and Christina caught up with her at the entry to the door.
"Did you hear any of that?"
"Ummm....yeah kind of."
"Well I'm sorry you did."
"How could you have accepted his offer?"
"Well Aria, you know what they say. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
