A/N) Just got Sims 3 Late Night for my birthday from my sister :D So happy! I spent all morning on it finding out new and exciting things... Okay sorry for the wait anyway! Here it is!
The school bus looks so real inside! I chat with Melissa on the way there, as she tells me about the school and her friends. Already I feel so comfortable here, like I could never have been anywhere else. Like I'm really - a sim. But that's not right. I'm not really a sim. I'm going to get home, back to my parents. Back to my real school.
When seeing it in the screen, it always seems like there's only your Sims on the school bus and the rest is darkness, but when you see it for real I can see people in here, other teenage and child sims either sitting watching out of the window or chatting in low voices to the people next to them. I look around in interest, drinking everything in with my eyes, unable to get enough of this world that I've never been able to see so close up before.
Melissa misinterprets my actions. "Yeah, I know, our school bus is a bit of a dump. I wish I was one of the rich kids that gets driven to school in the mornings. The bus is so slow!"
I nod and agree with her, not wanting to argue against her opinion. She's a sim and I'm not, after all. But I privately like the homely feeling on the school bus. Maybe because I'm such a fangirl about all things Sim so actually seeing this is amazing for me. I wish that Hannah was here to see this though, she would love it right now.
The bus pulls up next to a large towering building and I look up in wonder and amazement. "The school!"
"Yup. Boring old school," Melissa says in a bored sounding voice. "At least I get to see my friends here."
"It's so big!" I say.
Melissa flashes me an odd look. "It's not that big. Still, I suppose if you're new everything seems big and scary."
I grin sheepishly. "Pretty much. Just a bit overwhelmed, that's all."
The sunny smile returns to Melissa's face. "Don't worry, me and my friends will help you settle in. Give it a week or so and you'll barely notice it's new."
A week or so. The words ring ominously in my mind. What will my parents think? That I've disappeared. Said so naturally, like I belong here. Like I'm actually a sim.
But, to as not to arouse suspicion, I smile just as brightly at the girl next to me and announce: "Yeah. I'm sure I'll settle in."
"I can't wait for you to meet my friends!" Melissa starts excitedly as we wait for the bus to find a parking space. "Fran always loves new people and is amazing at the guided tour, and Emily is really nice and calm to help you settle in."
"And Adam - right?" I ask cheekily. Melissa shoves me lightly and I laugh. I'm actually really looking forward to the day at school. Especially seeing inside the school, since its a rabbit hole, meaning on the game you never get to see inside. You see more of the classrooms in University Life, but the elementary school is just a blank shell. I wonder if it's real for the Sims, or whether we just disappear into a black hole for six Sim hours.
"Rachel? Ready?" Melissa asks, standing up and getting ready to leave the bus. I follow her lead, looking at the large building in front of us with apprehension and taking a deep breath before we enter.
"Okay. Here we go."
And I follow Melissa through the school doors into my first day at Sim school.
