Star Wars the Clone Wars: Family Ties

Chapter 3

Cloe lays on a medical table, her cloak has been removed and she has a bandage around her leg from where she was shot. Braxton sits next to her with a cast on his left arm, still wearing his cloak and holding onto Cloe's. Cloe begins to move her hand slightly and lets out a slight groan before waking up.

"Cloe," Braxton said standing up.

Cloe slowly sits up and rubs her eyes. She looks around the Medical Bay before locking eyes with Braxton, whom she immediately hugs.

"I thought I lost you," Cloe said hugging him, "What happened? How did you get out?"

"I don't really know," Braxton said breaking away from the hug, "There was a force that knocked me forward and knocked me out. When I came to, there were Jedi and clones all around, taking out the droids and then the metal man got away. I looked over and saw you. I thought you were dead, but the Jedi told me you weren't."

"Hey," Cloe said in a calming voice, "I am okay, alright? We are going to be okay."

Braxton looks down at his hands and picks at his cast.

"Brax," Cloe said, "What is it?"

Braxton looks up with tears in his eyes and in a shaky voice said, "Dad is dead."

Cloe let out a sigh.

"I think the metal man killed him. I saw him when the Jedi and clones were taking us to their ship. I tried to go to him, but I was stopped."

Cloe brings Braxton in for one last hug and said, "We are going to be okay, Brax. I promise you that I am not going to let anyone hurt you again."

"Promise and beyond," he said breaking away from the hug.

Braxton holds up his thumb.

"Promise and beyond," Cloe said touching Braxton's thumb with hers.

Within a few moments after their promise, Shaak Ti, Obi-Wan, Anakin and Captain Rex walk into the medical bay. Braxton jumps off the medical bed and walks over toward a nearby medical table.

"Are we interrupting," Obi-Wan asked walking over.

"No," Cloe said sitting up right, "We were just talking."

"How are we feeling," Shaak Ti asked.

Cloe looks over toward Braxton who is tinkering with something and then back at the group.

"Fine. Given the circumstances."

"Do you remember anything," Obi-wan asked crossing his arms.

Cloe sighs once more and says, "I remember hiding in a shed. A giant metal man coming onto our land. Killing our father. And then we tried to escape. Metal man nearly killed myself and my brother. And then last thing I remember is seeing Braxton being dragged away and then nothing after that."

"Did this metal man ever say why he was there," Anakin asked.

Cloe looks over at Braxton, "I would rather not say in front of him."

Shaak Ti looks over at Braxton and then walks over to him.

"Braxton," she said kneeling down to him, "Now that your sister is awake. How about that tour?"

"Really," Braxton exclaimed.

"Captain Rex," she said gesturing toward Rex, "Will give you the insider tour."

"What about my sister," Braxton said looking at Cloe.

"She still needs to rest her leg," Shaak Ti said standing up, "But, how about when she is all rested up, you can show her everything that Captain Rex showed you."

Braxton looks over at Cloe with a face of worry.

"Don't worry, Brax. Go and have fun," Cloe smiled.

Braxton smiles and runs over to hug Cloe before leaving the medical bay with Captain Rex.

"To answer your pervious question," Cloe asked looking back toward the group, "He was asking me to give up Braxton. And then I overheard him tell Braxton that he was going to "be part of a greater cause."

The group did not respond to Cloe but simply looked at each other.

"Why do I feel as if you guys know more to this story," Cloe said.

"It will all be explained in due time," Shaak Ti said, "For now, you need to rest."

Cloe rolled her eyes, "I am sick and tired of people telling me that things will be explained later. If my brother is in danger, then I need to know. Now."

Shaak Ti sighed and said, "I will need to set up a meeting with the Prime Minister. Do you think you will be ready in an hour?"

Cloe gave a slight nod.

"Then we shall see you then," Shaak Ti said.

The group left the Medical Bay, leaving Cloe alone with her thoughts.
