Whose your daddy
"What?" I ask dumbfounded. Trying to process Damien's words, this does change everything. Someone whom I've never met or heard of before is my father. Well in reality it's always been this way since I was human, I'd never heard of my real father nor seen him. But maybe just maybe there's hope for me?
"Damien how do you know who Orpheus is?" I ask him, breaking him from his thoughts. He sighs before running a hand through his silver locks.
"Now would be a good time to tell a little more about my past, but first you need this. " He says before pulling his shirt over his head and slipping it over mine, giving me a lopsided grin, that I can't help but to return.
I let the towel drop from my body as Damien scoops me into his arms, walking out into our bedroom and lying us both onto our bed. Bringing my knees to my chest I lean back into Damien's, sighing softly I turn my head as he starts to speak.
"A long time ago I was apart of The Vampire Council. You see, these were simpler times. Not many Vampires were created and we were there to enforce that rules must be followed, if not there would be consequences for breaking those rules." Damien swallows harshly before continuing. "Orpheus was in charge, he made the Council what it was. Orpheus created the Council to better our kind, having good intentions for Vampires all around." He smiles, and I see he's thinking of an old memory.
"He found me in a dark time of my life. It was when I had went on the killing spree of innocent people. He found me in a dark alleyway, right after I had finished my meal. As soon as I had sensed him, I pounced on him quickly, not realizing who he was." He chuckles at the memory and I smile at him.
"We actually fought for a good minute until he had me pinned down, I thought he was going to kill me to be honest. I was strong, one of the strongest but he was stronger, powerful even. I begged him to kill me then, knowing I deserved it. But he didn't kill me, he instead took me into his arms telling me it was okay and that, that part of my life was over." Tears form in my own eyes at hearing that, reaching for his hand, I squeeze it gently."Orpheus taught me how to live a somewhat normal life again, how to love myself again. I'll forever be in his debt." He pauses before looking down at me, closing the distance between us, kissing me softly. "Even more so now." He whispers.
Clearing his throat, he continues. "He took me under his wing, leading me into a life of purpose. He soon made me his right hand man in the council. You see, Vincent was there before me....and was very accepting of me until he wasn't." My stomach clenches, bracing myself for the next part of the story.
"Vincent soon became secretive to Orpheus, we both sensed something bad was bound to happen. We just didn't know what that was. We found out Vincent was conspiring with another Vampire named Tarek, Tarek was not a good Vampire, he was everything but good. One of Orpheus's enemies. Tarek made plans to kill me while Orpheus was away on business in Asia." Damien pauses, gauging my reaction before continuing.
"It was the second night that Orpheus had been away, Tarek sneaking his way into the Council's Castle, I had decided to stay overnight, Vincent knew I was staying because he had announced he was leaving and I told him of my plans to stay overnight. It was perhaps 4-5 hours after he had left, I was deep into my work that Orpheus had left for me to do before the door opened Revealing Tarek. I jumped to my feet as soon as he used his vampiric speed to appear before me. The dagger he had clutched in his hand almost made its way into my heart, almost ending my life there. The thing was, I was quicker. Quickly snapping his neck, he never saw it coming. Being too obsessed in his greed to kill me." Damien makes a "tsking" noise before taking a hand through his hair. I'm left stunned while I listen to his story.
