chapter seven

Hermione woke up to the sunlight streaming in through her windows. Everything was peacefully quiet, and she smiled at the beautiful morning.

The date's today!

Her heart skipped at the realization. She smiled even wider, and almost jumped out of bed. She couldn't wait for tonight.

As she looked around, everyone else seemed to be fast asleep. Had she really woken up that early? She cast a Tempus. 7 am. She laughed to herself. It was time to wake some people up, or they'd be late for breakfast.

"Ginny, Padma, Lavender, it's time to get up! Breakfast starts in an hour!"

She got a grumble in reply.

Hermione walked over to her best friend and shook her shoulders. "Come on, Ginny. Wake. Up. It's a beautiful day!"

The redhead opened her eyes slightly and groaned. "What are you doing so happy in the morning?"

Hermione smiled. "I have a special event happening today."

Instantly, Ginny was awake. "Special event?"

She laughed, a little nervously. She wanted to tell her about her date with Draco, but wasn't really sure how she'd react.

"Um...yeah."

Ginny gave her a look. "You can't just say you have something special to do and not tell me!"

She laughed. "Fine, I'll tell you after breakfast. It's just...I don't know how you're going to react."

"Now I'm worried."

"It's not bad, I promise. It's just that you might not like it."

Ginny got out of bed and began to walk to the bathroom. "Well, it can't be that bad. Knowing you, it's probably just a new book that came out that you just have to get from Hogsmeade."

"Oh, shut up." Hermione replied, giving her a playful shove. "It is much more interesting than that."

She smirked as Ginny's eyes widened. "Are you going on a date?!"

Hermione looked down, but she already noticed her reddening face. "You are going on a date!"

"...Maybe."

"Soo, who is it?"

"Someone you wouldn't expect."

"It's not Neville, is it? I know he's had a major transformation, but I've always seen him with Luna."

She snorted. "Merlin, Ginny, no it's not Neville. Why on earth do you think I'd try to break apart that perfect pairing?"

"True. Soooo...?"

"You'll know after breakfast."

"Oh, come on!"

Hermione rolled her eyes and laughed. "I'd like to tell you in private, so you better hurry up and get dressed so we can go down to breakfast."

Ginny pouted. "Fine."

The rest of the girls eventually woke up and got ready, and all of them went down. Everything was going wonderfully until Hermione walked through the doors of the Great Hall and realized that Harry was already there. Ron saw her and waved, and she gave him a small smile.

Harry continued to look down at his plate.

"Hey, guys!" Ron greeted as Ginny and Hermione sat down, Ginny next to Harry and Hermione beside Ron.
