"Soo, how's your girlfriend been?" Blaise smirked as he and Draco walked into the common room.
"She's not my girlfriend."
"What? Didn't you two literally go on a date like a week ago?"
Draco blushed. "Yeah, but we're not exactly official. I mean, I don't think there's anyone else either of us are interested in, but right now we're keeping it at more than friends."
"So, you haven't kissed yet." Blaise grinned cheekily.
The blond glared at his friend as the plopped down on the couch, but sighed. "No."
Blaise's eyebrows raised. "Wait, really? I was kidding. You usually make out with someone on the first date, what happened?"
"It's just that...Hermione's different. The girls I've dated before were mostly just because I thought they were hot, but with her, we actually talk about things. And she understands me, somehow. I just don't want to rush things and risk messing it up."
"Wow." Blaise looked surprised. "Who knew Granger would make such an impact on you."
"Oh, shut up."
"But really, I think it's nice. You're actually settling down and caring about someone." Blaise grinned, to which Draco rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help but agree.
They were about to start their homework when the portrait opened again, and Astoria Greengrass stepped through. They turned to look at who had just entered, and Draco had the unfortunate luck of making eye contact. Astoria immediately smiled at the sight of him, batting her eyelashes as she walked over and sat beside them.
Draco tried his very hardest not to scrunch his nose up in disgust. Astoria had been after him for as long as he could remember, and every year it seemed to get worse. She was pretty, he had to admit, but nowhere near Hermione. She was also the dumbest person he had ever met, only caring about her looks and boys, and that was something he truly couldn't stand.
Blaise gave him an apologetic look as Astoria scooched closer.
"Hey, Draco." Astoria's smiled widened.
"Hello."
"Whatcha doing?"
"Homework."
Astoria pouted. "Well, that's not very fun."
Draco rolled his eyes. "No, it's not. But I'd also like to pass my classes this year, so it's necessary."
Astoria scoffed, grinning. "Oh, come on, Draco. Why do you even care about this place? It's not like you need a job."
"An education is important no matter where it's coming from, and unlike you, I'd rather people see me as intelligent rather than a self-centered airhead."
Astoria gasped. "How dare you insult me!"
Draco rolled his eyes, turning back to his work. He really didn't care about being nice to her right now; it was much too tiring.
"I'm still talking to you!" Astoria huffed, opening a flask she suddenly had and taking a large sip.
"Well, I'm done talking to you, so if you don't mind..." Draco waved his hand as if shooing her, not even glancing up. Blaise snorted as he watched Astoria scoff, grab her things, and stalk off to the girls' dormitories, still taking sips from the flask.
"I didn't know Astoria drank." He said as he turned back to his own book.
"What do you mean?" Draco glanced up for a moment.
"Did you not see her drinking from that flask?"
"Did it look like I was trying to pay attention to what she was doing?"
"No, but I've never seen a pureblood girl like that drink any alcohol besides champagne."
"Well, congratulations, now you have."
"Do you really not care about her at all? I mean, I know you have Granger, but Astoria could do a lot more damage if you keep being so mean to her. Girls like her are the biggest gossips in this school."
"You're right, I don't care about her, because I have had to be nice to her since first year and frankly I'm tired of it. Everyone knows she spreads false rumors all the time, so I doubt people will believe her, especially now after the war. Now, can I please finish reading this?"
"Ok, ok, I'll shut up now."
"Thank you."

Astoria stared at herself in the bathroom mirror, fuming. How dare Draco talk to her like that? The Malfoys no longer had a good reputation in the pureblood community, so Draco had no right to speak to her like he was still superior. Plus, she was so much prettier than that horrid mudblood.
Oh yes, she had overheard Pansy and Blaise talking about Draco's date with the Granger girl, and it disgusted her. How disappointed Draco's father would be if he knew that his son was no longer upholding his values of blood purity. She knew Draco needed her if he wanted to correct the reputation of the Malfoy name.
"Draco is mine." She said under her breath. "I just have to find a way to make him realize that."
Suddenly, an idea popped into her head, and she smirked proudly at her own intelligence.
"Oh, just you wait, Granger," She whispered to the mirror, smiling evilly. "Because I'm about to ruin your life."
