tonight was halloween night, and it was your senior year of high school so you knew it had to be one to remember.

you and your best friend tyler had known each other since the middle of freshman year, when he moved to your school. ask anyone in the school, and they would say the two of you were basically joined at the hip.

the first halloween you spent together, you went as beetlejuice and lydia. ever since, both of you have gone as a duo every year. it was just your guys' thing.

this year, you were going as mia wallace and vincent vega from pulp fiction.
tyler brought up the idea to you, and you agreed because you loved the movie.
that also meant both of you had to get wigs and the right attire, which was always the fun part to you.

you decided you'd call tyler once you were ready to see what the plan was.

you grabbed your bald cap to put on over your natural hair, and fixed the wig on top of it to make it look as close as possible to mia's.
then, you slipped on the black pants and white button up. taking glue, you stuck a fake syringe to your chest to add to the costume.
one last step was to put on a tiny bit dark eyeshadow, dark red lipstick, and smearing a small amount of fake blood under your right nostril.

you examined yourself in the mirror for a moment. grabbing the cigarette you snuck from your dad off of your small table, you felt your look was complete. you weren't going to smoke it of course, it was just for the costume.

you then called tyler.

"hello?" he picked up.

"hey! im ready whenever you are." you told him.

"alright, ill be over in a jiffy!," he exclaimed,
"don't do too much cocaine before i show up." he laughed.
you rolled your eyes at his dumb but funny humor.

"i wont, i promise. see you when you get here." you said, and hung up the phone.

it never took him very long to reach your house, so it wasn't a very long wait until you heard your doorbell go off.

you opened your door to find tyler standing there in a very flattering suit, and a horribly fake-looking, black wig pulled back into a ponytail.

"'play with matches, you get burned.'" tyler quoted vincent vega, pointing at the cigarette in between your fingers.

"shut up, its for the costume. you look so ridiculous though." you began laughing.

"you know i look good, admit it." he awkwardly posed.

"whatever vega, lets get this show on the road." you grabbed a bag and left.

you and tyler usually went trick or treating around your neighborhood every year, but this time you agreed on just the two of you driving around and eating your own candy.

he drove to a secret spot the two of you found junior year, where no one would be.

-

"this is nice." you talked with a mouthful of candy. you had been there for about 10 minutes enjoying each others company.

"or as mia wallace would say, 'That's when you know you've found someone special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence.'" you playfully punched his shoulder, smiling.

"god, im gonna miss this." tyler mumbled.

"miss what exactly?"

it took him a second to respond, "this. us. i mean, this is senior year for pete's sake!" you could tell he was getting a little worked up.

"you really think i was just here for four dreadful years of highschool, and that's it? you cannot get rid of me that easily joseph." you said as you popped a sucker into your mouth.

"what happens after this year then?" he looked at you.

"if im not able to see my best friend all 7 days of the week, then we're gonna have to resort to facetime," you chuckled, "everything will be fine tyler, i promise." you put your hand on top of his.

"okay okay," you wanted to brighten the mood a little more, "remember in freshman year when you first moved and you came into class, and the first thing i said to you was that i liked your handwriting." a smile spread across his face.

"i do." he chuckled.

"i also remember when we crashed the basketball team party at the end of sophomore year, that was most exciting thing ive done in my life thanks to you." the two of you laughed and shared memories, not wanting to ever let go of them.

-

"...you really did not want me to tell her!" you exclaimed.

the two of you stopped and gazed at each other. nothing had ever felt more right.

tyler suddenly leaned forward and connected your lips with his. he let go just as quickly, giving you a 'im sorry,' look.

"i shouldn't have done that, im sorry." he looked down, his voice barely above a whisper.

you took a moment to process what happened.

"i think you should've." you looked up at him.

"r-really-" he got cut off by you kissing him back, the same way he did to you.

you let go, "'besides, isn't it more exciting when you don't have permission?'" you quoted mia wallace once more before you met your lips with tylers lips again. you felt his smile against your face. he totally got the reference.

everything was going to be okay.
