I guess it's just apart of this melanin
The part we just couldn't read
The silent prayer we just couldn't hear
Whispered into the night of our skin
Holy
with her head bowed
As crusty staled fingers point at the hair they compare to a Brillo pad
Eyes shut tight
Quietly wishing the darkness would maybe choke itself to death
I guess it is just the tiny fine print we just couldn't see
as we come drowning gasping for air,
falling out of the sky
Or hanging ourselves out to dry
On bark as brown as our skin
Like this melanin in the street
with its hands up
begging for freedom
For a moment of silence
As this wind claims this moment silent
But i swear
I'm human
As you
Pull the
Trigger .
