Black thing
You think when they see you they don't see black
As if they don't sneer and snicker at your skin
Comparing it to the dirt
Black bird
You think when they see you they don't think of death
As if They don't cower at you claws
And compare you to the raven with souless eyes
Black girl
You think when they see you they don't think of you as some angry , ugly, thing
Too black to be woman yet still ain't black enough for the movement
Black boy
You think when they see you they don't already see you as a threat
ready to pop off
so they stay ready steady to pop off their guns at any second
Black woman
You think when they see you they don't see woman
they don't think you woman enough as if black skin can't be on a woman's body
Black man
You think when they see you they don't clutch their purses
Or their guns when you walk pass
I mean don't you get it
It's generation after generation of mistreatment of this skin
Black thing
They tell you the world is your oyster
Without telling you
Historically
You
will
drown .
