Todoroki's POV

The first thing that I felt once I woke up was a painful headache and a gagging feeling.

I shot up from where I was laying, dizziness swamping my brain as I choked on something that was down my throat.

I heard a beeping get more frequent and felt warm hands on my shoulders, which were oddly soothing.

"Hey," I heard, the voice sounding distant. "Hey, it's okay, Todoroki!"

I gasped for breath and clenched at the hand on my left shoulder, moving it to my chest and cradling it as if it would save my life.

I kept my eyes tightly shut, and discovered that breathing through my mouth is a lot less suffocating and painful than continuing to breathe through my nose.

After my breathing regulated and I felt myself calm down, I built up what little bravery I had and opened my eyes.

I was met with a blinding light, and I groaned, causing someone to swear quietly and move away.

When I felt the figure near me again, I opened my eyes once more, but this time instead of being met with a blinding white light, I was met with a bare of tired red eyes.

The eyes squinted as Kirishima smiled sadly, sighing in relief. "Hey, man," he greeted, looking guilty.

I tried to open my mouth and speak, but I was met with sharp pain and another gagging feeling, my chest arching upwards off the bed. I began to scratch at my neck, gigging my nails into the soft skin until two hands grabbed mine and pulled them away.

"Don't do that, Todoroki," he murmured, gripping my hands tightly as I squeezed back. "You're going to hurt yourself."

I calmed down and looked to Kirishima, fear filling my stomach. I moved one of my hands and pointed to my throat, causing the redhead to wince and I widened my eyes in silent question.

He took my hand in his again and sighed, finding a way to form his words. "They did it, Todoroki," he mumbled, eyes casting downwards. "They had to."

I shook my head in disbelief, snatching my hands out of his and pushing him away, my breathing ragged.

Panic erupted through my veins and I squeezed my eyes shut, tears rolling uncontrollably down my cheeks.

Kirishima tried to reach out and comfort me, but I snapped and kicked him, causing the boy to fall backwards and crash onto the floor, knocking over a tray of medicine and equipment.

At the sudden loud noise, the door opened and a doctor came in, rushing over to where I lay.

I flinched away from her and curled in on myself, pulling my knees to my chest.

She then walked around the bed to Kirishima, who was still lying on the floor, the wind knocked out of his lungs.

The doctor kneeled and helped him stand, exchanging a few words with him that I couldn't hear.

After she left, Kirishima cautiously sat next to me again, his eyes frowning.

"Okay, first of all, ouch," he said with slight humour, brightening my mood a little. "And second, the doctor said that your father is coming to see you now."

At the mention of my father, I sat up straight and looked towards Kirishima, fear blanketing my features once more.

I began to shake my head frantically, wishing that I could scream 'no', but I couldn't.

Kirishima looked at me with worry before quickly going on his phone to call someone.

"Hey, Aizawa sensei . . ."
