Yesterday was your 21st birthday. You drank like there was no tomorrow and ended up falling over in the middle of dancing on a table. Luckily, I was there to catch you. I'm sitting in the front seat of my car now, just dropped you off, and I thought I could get in a new entry.
Do you remember what happened briefly before you embarrassingly toppled over like an unstable Jenga tower? We were sitting on that beige-colored couch tucked away in the back of the club. There was a plastic red cup in your hand filled with some sort of mixed drink the bartender had made. I had soda because I needed to make sure you stayed safe. In hindsight, I shouldn't have let you drink so much but it was your birthday, thought you should let loose.
Anyway, it was secluded there. The music wasn't as loud and it was a little darker, there were no flashy neon lights. Our friends were dancing away on the dance floor, too engrossed in the spell of alcohol too even notice we had retreated into our own little corner. We were laughing about that time you'd fallen off the swing at the park when you were six and the next thing I knew, your face was centimeters away from mine.
I could feel your breath on me, it was hot and stunk of vodka, but I didn't care. All I could focus on was your close proximity and the hammering of my heart in my chest. I swear it was louder than the music. Then you placed your lips on mine.
Winter, I'd been in love with you since the fifth grade and you kissed me. The moment didn't last long though because you pulled away and made your way to our friends again. I'm not sure if you'll remember our kiss but I hope you do.
And I hope you didn't think it was a mistake.
Sleep well, I've left some advil and a glass of water for that terrible headache you'll have when you wake up. I'll be back in the morning to tease you.
