I sat at the kitchen table staring into nothing. Liam sat with me, we stared at nothing together. Those words were already ironed into my brain.
You will be chosen,
But you cannot accept,
Take back your mate
And your duo shall last
Truth shall be seen
And truthful shall be heard.
Why can't it just make sense? No more riddles would be great!
Dad eventually came home at about 7. He could tell something was up when he walked in. Then he saw my prophecy.
He was all like 'we have to go to Austria and Henchman House so you can be judged by Luke.' I really didn't want to go.
"Dad, how many others will be there?" Liam asked quietly.
"I don't know." Dad murmured.
"Some knowledge would be helpful." I muttered. Dad glared at me.
"When does it happen." Liam asked.
"Next Sunday. You have a week." Dad answered, shooting me a sideways glance.
I abruptly stood up and left the room. I didn't sleep that night. Not a single wink. I am so tired now, but going to bed is out of the option.
I crashed through the door and ran out into the woods. I ran, in my human form, for ages. When I got tired, I turned into a wolf, and ran some more.
I came across a new scent, it smelt nice. Not like other wild animals. I knew before I saw it that it was the black wolf again. It came into my line of vision very slowly, as if daring me to attack it. I stared at the wolf and this time didn't back down.
It walked toward me and stopped about a meter away. It was huge, like huge for a wolf. Even I am bigger than your average wolf, but this guy is huge! At least two heads taller. His black fur was thick and rippled in the light wind. I stared at him some more, never looking at it directly in the eye. He flicked his tail, almost a nervous gesture. I lifted a paw then put it on the ground again, then I flicked my ears at him and ran off into the dark forest. I ran until grey wrapped itself around the trees and told me it was morning. I ran in circles and backtracked heaps after a while I decided I was tired enough to have a dreamless sleep, I shut my eyes and darkness enveloped me.
"Clover! Come home!" I awoke to Liam shouting, his voice was very distant, even with my super hearing I could barely hear him. I must be ages away from home.
I turned and dashed off through the undergrowth and shrubbery. It was still morning, but just.
As I got closer to home, I could hear dad talking unusually loud to someone.
I started to get anxious and sped up a bit.
Then the other person spoke and I almost sighed aloud with relief. It was only Autumn.
I changed about 500 meters from my backyard, and jogged over tree roots and mini bushes until I was at the back door. I stood for a moment, yawned, then decided it would look weird if I came home through the back door, so I walked around the side to the front. I opened the door and walked into house.
"Clover!" Autumn threw herself at me in a mass of strawberry-blonde hair.
I struggled to hold her down. "Hi." I muttered sleepily. I think I only got a few hours sleep and that running tired me. A lot.
She grinned widely.
"Come on, some people at school have asked us to go shopping with them!!" she squealed like it was the most amazing thing in the world.
