"Can you say Dad?" Vi coaxed with Sakkav.

"D....Dad." He tried.

They were now just over a year.

Spock would be coming home for a long break soon. He still visited regularly, but Vi couldn't wait for him to come home.

She still tinkered on machines, but in a hidden floor under the house.

S'trk missed Spock the most out of the kids. He liked being wrapped up in one of Spock's robes while Vi held him.

Soon the big day was only three days away.

Vi felt she could explode. They had spoken on the comms and holograms regularly, but it wasn't the same.

She also felt a little sad. Spock was coming back for longer while he decided what mission to take next. He had said over the comm that he did not wish to miss his children's entire upbringing.

Kirk and Bones and Scotty and the rest would probably continue on without her and Spock.

Jayla, a recruit who was tight with Scotty, was trying to secure a place on the Enterprise.

Vi secretly hoped they would end up together, but she wasn't setting her hopes too high. Scotty had a kind of blind naiveness when it came to women.

She stretched in the living room on a mat, booping T'sing's nose.

Sakkav was sucking his toes while S'trk was snuggling into his favorite turquoise robe, that still smelt faintly of his father.

Vi liked to keep herself fit.

As she stretched like a cat she heard a gentle knock.

Vi got up and went to the door.

"Greetings. My son and your husband is due to return in three days, that is correct?" Sarek bowed.

"That is correct."

"I would like to form a conference meeting deciding your future." Sarek came in.

"That would be logical. What exactly do you mean by future? Do you have any suggestions as to Spock's new job?" Vi picked up the kids off the floor.

"I think it would be wise to discuss that in our approaching meeting." Sarek held S'trk.

"Agreed. I miss him." Vi smiled.

"I suppose I too have missed his presence." Sarek admitted.

The days dragged by.

Vi had thought a little about what Spock should do. If he wasn't working on Star Fleet then they could get one locally. The triplets had a regular nanny, so that wouldn't be a problem.

The day finally came. Vi hadn't called Spock for the past two days as they were in a wormhole.

The ship landed. Kirk and Bones trailed out. "There's something we need to talk about."

"What is it?" Vi felt a dagger of panic.

Their faces were solemn.

"Where is he?" Vi realized suddenly. She looked around and at the crew. "Where is he?"

"Come over here." Kirk reached for her hand.

"Don't!" Vi snatched her hand back. She had come to appreciate the intimacy with which Spock always held her hand and had no wish to violate it.

"Just come over here." Kirk laid a hand on her shoulder instead and steered her away from the ship.

"God I hate this." Bones groaned and followed.
