'I think it might be him.' Vi reread her list. 'Qatar Trix.'
'What has brought you to that conclusion?' Spock looked over her shoulder.
'We're looking for a guy with a fake arm. He has a fake arm. Case closed.'
Spock could not argue with her logic.
'I'll tell Jim.' Vi headed up to the bridge.
~~
'Where do we find this guy?' Jim crossed his legs and leant forward to listen.
Spock still seemed cautious. 'If this is indeed the thief, we should proceed with caution on the possibility that he may decide to release one of his many new bioweapons.'
'Where and how would he hide the box case thingy?' Uhura wrinkled her nose.
'I'm still unclear as to how a one armed guy carried such a heavy box.' Sulu interjected.
'He is not one armed Mr Sulu but rather one is a prosthetic.' Spock replied wearily. '
'I'm not sure.' Vi mused in response to Uhura. 'I don't think he could hide it in his quarters. But then there's the question of how safe he would feel around it.'
'I don't know if I would wanna sleep on a massive plague bomb.' Bones snorted.
'Bones I want you to take some redshirts and head down to this guy's room.' Jim said almost meditatively.
Bones muttered something under his breath and went to do as Jim asked.
T'Sing didn't know how to broach the subject with him after she had seemingly put her foot in it, mentioning his daughter.
Perhaps she passed away.
In any case she was now sitting awkwardly on the bridge, as the adults discussed the theft.
I could apologize for any hurt I may have caused. But that may upset him further.
'.....So stay here ok.' Vi finished, looking at her daughter.
T'Sing snapped back to reality, realising guiltily that her mother had been talking to her.
Vi, Spock and Bones had all left the bridge by now.
'Hey come over here.' Jim beckoned, noticing T'Sing.
She walked over, her immaculate posture partly due to nervousness.
'You ever thought about joining Star Fleet one day?' Jim asked.
'I have given it thought yes.' She answered truthfully.
I would not mind entering the medical field.
That brought her mind back to Bones, causing her to frown. Everyone on New Vulcan was very stiff and formal. Her grandfather, her extended family, apart from uncle Sybock.*
*There has been a criminal lack of mention for him in this fic
Bones was so genuine and open she almost found herself wishing her other relatives could be.
'You haven't heard a word I've said have you.' Jim realised.
'I am sorry.' She bit her lip.
'What's wrong then?' He asked, genuinely interested. 'You seem bothered. I've been friends with your dad for long enough to realise when something's eating you guys.'
'I am not being ingested.' T'Sing gave him a strange look. 'However I fear I may have made a mistake in your social complexities.'
'How so?' Jim asked, bemused.
