'What do you mean what's missing?' Jim asked.

'A couple tissue samples I was workiin on.' Bones started to explain.

'That's it?' Jim wrinkled his nose. 'I thought it was a real emergency.'

'Thanks for that Jim. I was testing new viruses to find vaccines on them and now they're gone so it's a bigger emergency then you'd think.' Bones replied sounding very cross, his arms following suit.

'Who does it effect?' Vi piped up, thinking with concern of the tiny baby still in Jim's arms and her three children.

'Depends on the virus see, cause one only affects Avoriums, that's people from Avoria, another gives a rash to every male within fifty miles whose eaten cheese in the last day, another one brings measles for nine days..' Bones starting ticking them off on his fingers.

'Should we leave?' Vi cut in bluntly.

'I don't think you should because you could have been exposed already by the thief. We'll have to quarantine you.' Bones replied seriously.

'See?' Vi turned back to Spock. 'Told you. A disaster everywhere we go.'

Spock made a "ttt" noise. 'That is coincidence.'

'She does have a point Spock.' Jim gave a wry grin, still bouncing Amanda.

'You are one of the most illogical people I have ever met.' Spock responded.

'I take that as a compliment.' Jim replied with dignity.

'HELLO? Missing samples? The possibility of deadly viruses running rampant on this godforsaken hunk of metal?' Bones waved a hand.

'Yes sorry, we'll focus on you now.' Vi turned her attention back to Bones innocently.

'I don't know if I want to panic the whole ship, but people should definitely be careful.' Bones said meditatively running a hand through his hair.

'Maybe I'll drop a quiet word to the L.ts* to keep an eye on things on their floors.' Jim decided.

*Seriously how the heck do you spell Luetenient? Luitenient?

'That is... logical.' Spock said in thinly veiled surprise.

'Maybe he's infected already.' Bones muttered.

'How will we know if we have one of the diseases?' T'Sing asked politely.

'I'll prepare a list.' Bones replied.

~~

'Woah.' Vi examined the brochure in her hand. 'This is not a list.'

'It's detailed.' Bones said defensively.

Vi flipped through it languidly. 'There's a lot of stuff in here. How could some one carry away so many samples at once?'

'They're all kept in one of these strong boxes.' Bones took her over to the wall and pressed a panel.

Metal boxes lined the inside.

'Still, that's a pretty distinctive box. Surely we could just search people's rooms?' Vi frowned.

'Do you have any idea how many people are on this ship? You used to work here for goodness sake.' Bones rolled his eyes.

'Surely there's security footage of the people in the Medbay.' Vi pointed out.

'Whoever it was wiped it clean. They're no amateurs.' Bones said grimly.

'Who would do that? The Enterprise has some of the longest serving Star Fleet officers.'
