Tobias POV

Eli wakes me up with her wails.

I turn on the lights.I check her diaper, her temperature, and I try feeding her. This is the third time this week it's really starting to worry me.

"What's wrong baby?"I ask as I lay her head on my shoulder.

She stops crying and just sniffles.

I decide to take her to the Infirmary just in case she's sick.

It's staring to get cold and the snow will start coming so I have bought Eli warm clothes.

I dress her in a pink onesie,a scarf,and a tiny sweater.

I put on my sweatpants,a shirt,and a jacket.

I put Elizabeth inside my jacket with just her head peeking out.

Marlene is there at the Check-in in the Infirmary.

"Hi Four and Elizabeth."She greets.

"Hi.Emmy keeps crying every night and doesn't seem to have anything going on."I explain.

"Okay the doctor will call you in."She says.

I nod and sit down.

Emmy looks up at me and smiles.

I smile back. She takes my index finger and wraps her tiny little fist around it.

I kiss the top of her head and whisper,"Everything will be okay.I promise."

I keep her awake, so the doctor doesn't have to wake her up.

"For Elizabeth Eaton."Doctor Tony asks.

I stand up and follow him to the room.

I take out Emmy from my jacket and lay her on the check-up bed.

"What seems to be the problem?"asks Doctor Tony.

"Well it's the third time this week that Eli has woken me up with her wails and is not hungry or has gone to the bathroom."I explain.

"Hm.I'm sorry if this offends you, but does she have a mother?"asks Doctor Tony.

"Her mother died during the war."

"I'm sorry to hear that. Now Eli's problem is that she simply has been malnourished.Meaning that she has not had breast milk which is the key place where babies get their vitamins and minerals."Doctor Tony explains.

"Is is serious?"I ask worriedly.I don't want anything to happen to my Eli she's the only thing I have left I can lose her.

"Well no."

"Then how do we cure it?"

"Until she begins to eat real food we are going to have to inject her with a shot every month which will provide her with all the vitamins and minerals that she needs."

That broke my heart into millions of pieces. My poor baby getting and agonizing shot every month.

I nod and hold back my tears."When does it begin?"

"It begins this month right now."He says.

I just give a simple nod.

He calls in a nurse and she enters with a needle and a bottled liquid.

I lay Eli on the bed and she starts to fuss when I move back a bit.

I give her a kiss on the forehead and she calms down. The doctor fills the injection with the liquid.

He unzips her jacket and her onesie and wipes her tiny tummy with a wipe.

I grab Eli's hand.

Her wail fills the whole room. She cries as I cry with her.

I zip her clothes up and pick her up.

I hug her and say,"Its okay baby."

She nuzzles herself in my chest and falls asleep.

I thank the doctor and head home.

I lay down next to Eli and she readjusts, but ends up nuzzles in my chest.
