When Scarlett had noticed the group of ignorant males she scoffed and turned the other direction. She had herself convinced that she was safe to walk without worrying that someones hand was going to reach out from behind her and pull her back towards the reckless males.
She could careless about what they were arguing about, so she scurried with her books into the building where she had almost tripped again, because the rug always had the same bubble every morning. She mentally thanked herself for being extra careful and catching herself every time her clumsiness had shown through.
Her feet were covered in black leather combat boots tied up to the top nice and evenly. Her legs had black tights and a royal blue skirt that went just above her knees, flattering her figure. Her torso was covered in a white sweater and a gray scarf laid calmly around her neck.
She had not been paying attention to where she was backing into
and accidentally felt her body collide with a much taller and much more masculine one.Her cheeks immediately rushed to a crimson, as she rose from the ground in a swift but yet clumsy move.
She heard the male groan and then sigh. "Watch it maybe? God I don't have time for clumsy freshman." His tone was obviously irritated but also held a intrigued tense too.
At first she was apprehensive to turn around and become face to face with the culprit that had made her stomach feel queazy due to her clumsiness. She didn't want to harm anyone nor be in anyones way. Then, she had grown the slight confidence and she turned around to face a very beautiful boy. He was even handsomer than the good looking man she bumped into her first day, and she couldn't help but hope that the beats of her heart skipping were a sign to say heres your chance, take it.
"Excuse me, I apologize I didn't mean to-" She had started, but as she was hushed her cherry lips came to a halt, shutting softly. Her eyebrows frowned in confusion as the male smirked and looked towards his group of friends.
On instinct her arms tightened, pushing the books to her chest firmly, also due to nervousness. She awaited his comment, and she found herself getting irritated because she had a schedule to tend too.
The male smirked again, and crossed his arms across his chest to mock her, but she took notice in his features. His biceps flexed when he crossed his arms and his lips pulled into a smirk as he eyed her. She took no notice to what him and his friends were really doing, hell she'd had little to no experience with guys.
She sighed loudly. "Well why did you interrupt me while I was apologizing for accidentally bumping into you if you aren't even going to talk?" She had annoyingly spoke glancing at her watch to make sure that this wasn't going to throw her off, and she mentally thanked herself for leaving earlier than usual.
He still had a smirk across his lips, as he chuckled just a little. "Cause sweets, I don't need an apology from you. It was an accident so what?" He had said smoothly, his voice peculiar to her. He had an accident that was definitely Southern Hemisphere, but she couldn't put her finger on it. His voice was soothing, in some sort of way and it had eased her nerves slightly. "Plus, I wouldn't mind having you bump into me everyday for the rest of the semester." He laughed and it earned a slight blush that had formed on her cheeks.
She didn't want to be flattered by him though, he was rude and ignorant.. As of what it had seemed to her. She sighed, and her muscles relaxed, as she licked her lips. She had gotten quite overworked by the situation, immediately labeling her as uptight. He smirked and glanced at her body once more.
"See you around sugar," He had said with such delicacy it made her shiver. She made a mental note to steer clear of him and his friend circle despite his captivating looks. Looks weren't all that mattered, but it was definitely a big part of it.
She was the first to walk away, and she did in a quick huffed manner, bringing a slight damper on her hood. She had walked over to the line for the small cafè they had on campus hoping that she would be able to still have time to read a little to calm her senses before her first class.
She zoned out, and was broke into reality when an innocent looking guy had called out to her. She looked towards the direction that the distinct voice came from and her eyes laid on the counter. She sighed as she took a few strides and ordered what she wanted to the boy in the maroon apron, khakis that fitted him quite well, and maroon baseball cap with a simple coffee mug and a cinnamon rod. His hair peeked out in the front as he smiled widely and thanked her as he took the money for her beverage.
His eyes were a nice chocolate brown, just like hers, and when she looked in them she felt a sense of comfort. They lit up as he handed her the coffee with a black lid, smiling his white teeth at her again. She smiled back, and for the first time today it was genuine.
She glanced down at his maroon apron quickly, not wanting to hold up the line and learned the name of the first person here in Bridgeport.
"Thank you Calum." She had sweetly thanked him and he nodded his head still smiling widely with gleaming chocolate eyes.
"Anytime! Come again." His voice was short but sweet, and it made her start to feel warm inside, and she had totally forgotten about the previous incident with the rude boy and his idiotic group of hoodlum friends.
She sipped her coffee cheerfully as the sun had peeked through the light curtains that sat at the top of the window that surrounded the small booth she decided to sit in. She picked out her book from her bag, and smiled widely at the cover.
How to Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Oh how she loved this book, she'd never love another book more for it would always hold a special place in her heart. She began re reading the book for the twelfth time this year.

She sat in her usual seat in the second row towards the right by the wall. She liked being towards the front for a number of reasons, but mainly because she didn't like the crowd that tended to sit towards the back.
She took out her notepad and a mechanical pencil and a couple other things, and crossed her right leg over the left and patiently waited for the class to start. She felt a person sit beside her, and if it was any other day she wouldn't have wondered who it was but there was something about today that had everything spiking her interest.
Her black loose curls bounced lightly when her face turned to the person who just sat down next to her. This is peculiar because usually the seat to the left to her is empty, so she couldn't help but wonder why someone has taken this spot and more importantly who it was.
Her eyes noticed a familiar pair of khakis and black polo shirt, that were firm fitted to the boy's muscles. Her eyes then led over to his hands pulling out pencils and papers from his bag. There was a distinct silence in the air and he stopped what he was doing and turned to look in her direction.
When she saw he was looking at her, her cheeks slightly flushed a bright pink and she smiled at him. She was comforted that it was someone who seemed to be remotely nice around here, and not one of the rude boys from that crude group of men.
"So uh, I realized we both had this class when I saw you sitting over here and figured why not sit by you? You seem like a nice girl." His voice was sweet and had a calming factor about it, and it made her relax; even though she didn't believe she was tense.
Calum was like, those people that just out of no where are an air breather, and you don't really know why or how it's that specific person.. but they are and somehow they just keep you from driving yourself insane.
She nodded softly. "I'm Scarlett." Her voice was cheery and pipped full of joy and just a little bit of bittersweet tenderness. The more the day went on the more she liked Calum, and the more she liked Calum, the more she enjoyed Bridgeport.
