The Stay

"Mama.... Do I have to go? Abuela and Abuelo don't have to see me.. You know how much they hate me." Renay said, almost pleading not to go.
She didn't like her dad's parents.

"I'm sorry Hija, Abuelo wanted to see you. It is his birthday after all." Renay's mother reasoned.

"Fine." Renay sighed, before putting on her uniform, grabbing her bag and heading to school.

Renay looked up from her phone the moment her door opened to show her Abuela.

"Granddaughter! I need help with the kitchen! You lazy person, going to get fat just sitting on your ass!" The grandmother screamed

"Yes grandma, I'll do the kitchen. Do not worry about my weight! I have it under control!" Renay responded, using a different heros quirk she'd seen before, summoning a bucket to clean the kitchen.

This is how Renay spent her 'vacation' at her grandparents house. Of course her parents left her there to visit other, friendlier, relatives. The only reason her grandfather wanted her there was to clean, and she couldn't tell her parents 'no' because she feared whatever punishment they'd come up with for her being disrespectful.

"Oh darling son! It's great to see you!" Renay's grandmother called out after answering the door.

"Uncle Robert!" The girl grinned, giving her uncle a hug.

"Renay! I see you have a new piercing!" Her uncle grinned, using English as to confuse the elders, who did not know the language. Her uncle was bilingual and she was trilingual.

"Do you like it?" She asked, she was close to her uncle (not like that pervs) he basically raised her until she moved to Japan.

"It pretty nephew." he said in broken Japanese. Renay giggle.

"I'm not your nephew! Silly uncle, but you almost had it." Renay grinned.

"Mom, dad, I'm taking Renay with me to the United States. That way this is a field trip." My uncle said, causing said girl to smile.

"Yes! She needs an education! Granddaughter, pack your things and go with your uncle." Her grandfather ordered, she gladly complied.

"Okay it's pronounced like this;
Hello, I'm Robert." Renay said, they were now sitting in traffic, waiting to get to their location. Passing time she attempted to teach her uncle a few more phrases in Japanese.

"Hello. Am Robert." He said, struggling a bit.

"I am." She corrected "How is your quirk doing?"

"It's fine, but the job sucks!" Robert complained. His quirk, reaper, he helps guide lost souls to their destinations, ie. Heaven, hell, the promised Land, etc. So religion wasn't pushed on him as a kid.

His quirk was random, like Renay's quirks, something about a loose quirk gene.

Not uncommon for them, each generation gets a random quirk. It started with their great grand father, their grandmother, her uncle, then her.

Renay's phone went off, surprising her uncle. He then slyly grinned.

"Does Renay have a partner!~" He said in a teasing tone.

"No Uncle! It's my classmates, they're... tracking my location. What the fuck?" Renay responded, unsure as to what was happening.

"We are heading back to Japan right?" Renay asked.

"Duh!" Her uncle responded,

It was a long flight from New Mexico to Japan.

Renay proceeded to fall asleep after they boarded the plane.
