"Trying my best"

*Renay's pov *

I know I'm dreaming. I hope it's a dream. All I can see is black before a light appeared. Around me is a mess of toys and clothes. The walls are purple and the bed I'm sitting on, and the door is a blue color.

Suddenly I hear voices, and the opening of a door, causing me to look at the door in front of me. A woman entered, not even fazed by my presence.

"Mommy! Look! I has your quirk!" A childlike voice called, walking in after the mother.

"Honey, we've been over this. Your quirk only copies mine. You have your daddy's and grandpa's quirks. You copy quirks, and you can put people to sleep. That runs in the family. Now it's nap time, mommy has work." The mother said. This wasn't a dream, this was a memory. My memory, one I hated with my entire being.

The scene fades to black again, only this time when light returns, it's in the form of a fire. My youngest self is still in there, and my parents aren't going to help her.

It goes dark again. This time I'm I an all to familiar place, one where I never want to be again. There was 8 year old me, tied to a chair, baiting the heroes, leading them to their doom.

My face was covered in blood, my once blue nightgown was stained a deep purple and crimson. My hair was chopped off with a knife and I was held at gun point.

This is the moment where I realized that my parents couldn't save me. This was broadcasted on every screen in Japan. I wasn't crying anymore.

'If all else fails', little me thought 'I'll use my sleep quirk. I hope it don't come to that.'

"Heroes! Please help me! I don't wanna die!" The younger me shouted.

That was when it happened.

They shot me. I didn't die, but it fucked me up. I could no longer feel anything on my left arm.

This is when the heroes decided to listen to the news.

After an hour of them doing horrid, unspeakable, acts to me on camera, the heroes finally rescue me from those criminals.

I screamed so loud when the first hero touched me that their ears bled.

*3rd pov *

Renay awoke startled, she almost let a scream out, but she caught herself.

Looking at the time she decided no more sleep for her. It was 1:00 am and she didn't want that memory haunting her a second time.

The only heroes who remember what happened are Present Mic and Midnight. She was trying her best to forget.

Why did they remember? She asked herself. Was it because they felt guilty? Questions like this filled her head as she went into the kitchen. Getting coffee from the coffee pot, she poured it in a cup and splashed some on her arm, burning some flesh, but she didn't flinch.

"Shouldn't you be asleep?" A sleepy voice asked.

"Nope, sorry but, I'm trying my best not to." She said to the now recognized blonde. "Kamari, shouldn't you be asleep?"

"I was, but I got hungry." The boy said, shrugging.

"Wanna order cookies?" Renay suggested.

"Yesss!" Denki yelled, waking up Tenya Iida.

"You fucked up bro!" Renay whisper-shouted.

"Renay? Kamari? What are you two doing up at this hour?" Iida asked the two, who now resembled a deer in headlights.

"This is a dream, go back to bed." Renay said before doing something strange. She jumped on the fridge and cawed like a crow.

"My apologies, I shall be off to bed now." Iida said now going back to bed, convinced this was a dream.

"So cookies? I'll pay." Kamanari suggested.

"Definitely. White chocolate chip please." Renay responded.

The cookies were ordered and delivered, and soon Denki went off to bed.

"Time to start my shift I guess." Renay shrugged, getting into her hero costume.

The costume consisted of a black spandex one piece under a baggy black sweater and black ripped skinny jeans. Her hair was tied up with a black beanie on top of it.

"Let's protect my friends, better than the heroes who couldn't protect me!" She grinned, ready to do this.

-next day-

By this time multiple heroes had tried to take over, but Renay had refused.

"Renay, I'm here to take over!"  Present Mic exclaimed, walking out with Aizawa, as Renay passed the entrance to the school for the who-knows-how-many time that morning.

"Go inside, you've been out here for 12 hours. We're taking over." Aizawa said

"Not happening! I'm walking away." Renay said, refusing any help for guarding the school, even though her shift was over 5 hours ago.

"Sorry for this Renay. MIDNIGHT!" Mic yelled, and Renay was put to sleep.

"Poor girl, honestly I thought one of the other hero's would have called for me." Midnight sighed, worried for the younger 'hero'. That's right, she was dubbed an unofficial hero. That way she could be a full fledged guard.

"Guys, should we worry about Ren? She's always avoiding sleep! It's very concerning!" Uraraka asked her friends, because she's concerned.

"Probably!" Denki exclaimed.

"Kamnari what the fuck."
