I have officially renamed Valentine's Day (ew) into National Reminder-that-I'm-lonely day.
Now that I got that off my chest, onto the learning (*insert sarcastic 'yay' here*).
Honestly, I can see why people get 'than' and 'then' mixed up. I struggled with these satanic look-alikes back in fifth-grade. That's right. Y'all have the inte- I'm kidding. I still struggle with these occassionally, mainly because they look so alike.
I'll yeet the Google Dictionary definitions at you:
THEN - at that time; at the time in question.
THAN -
1. introducing the second element in a comparison.
2. used in expressions introducing an exception or contrast.
3. used in expressions indicating one thing happening immediately after another.I feel like I'm slowly losing my humor as chapters go by. Is it just me?
Anyway, back to the simplified versions of the definitions. 'Then' is referring to a goddamn time. For example, one might exclaim, "But I was busy pretending to be an emo back then!"
'Than' is not referring to a time and is generally pretty versatile. Got it?
There's no real tip for this one, really. If the sentence refers to a time, use the word 'then'. If not, use 'than'. It's simple.
On a side note, I want to see how many comments I can get on this sentence.
Until the next chapter, stay fresh, cheese bags.
