Onto writing the second chapter of tonight . . . sigh.
One mistake I see a lot - and not only on Wattpad, mind you - is people misusing the words 'me' and 'I' in a sentence. This is a more complicated grammar error, as there are several ways one can go wrong when using these words:
"Me and Jennifer were thinking of going and flinging our poop at children," you told your mother.
Or:
"The girls and me are going to the movies," you called, hoping your brother heard you over his obnoxious rap music.
I'm assuming you all know what 'me' and 'I' mean (and if you don't, get out), so I'm going to skip the Google definitions and the dummy-version crap.
The most common mistake made is the one from the first example. The correct form is:
"Jennifer and I were thinking of going and flinging our poop at children," you told your mother.
It's simple, really. Instead of putting the 'me' before Jennifer, you put an 'I' after Jennifer (Sorry, I'm bad at explaining it).
The second mistake, which I see on occasion is the error made in the second example. The correct version of this example is: "The girls and I are going to the movies," you called, hoping your brother heard you over his obnoxious rap music.
The tip to get this correct is to use the word that you'd say if it were just you going to the movies. You would use 'I' instead of 'me', right? Exactly. It's similar to the other grammar error in you changing the 'me' to 'I'.
I just finished watching the TED talk called "Toilets, bowties, gender and me" by Audrey Mason-Hyde, and have a new idol. Audrey is so amazing, and I relate so much to what they talked about. Go check out the video!
Until the next chapter, stay fresh, cheese bags.
