The bus pulled into the school parking lot, I felt my phone vibrate, another text from Tyler.
"I bet your ass didn't study on the bus ride, you know Flarity is gonna make an example out of you, he's such a prick".
"Yeah, I know, but, whose mom teaches witch history at the community college? And need I remind you who's one of the very few witches at the school that can cast magic freely, none of that wand bullshit for me. I think I got this in the bag".
"Good Luck then, better not fuck it up, and get to the lockers asap".
I shoved my way through crowd of people making their way off the bus.
"Just like cattle" I groaned.
I could hear someone yell back.
"You're the only cow here bitch."
"Touché" I yelled in reply.
I entered the building and hustled to the lockers, there I found Tyler, blond hair with cherry red
highlights spread through it, black oval framed glasses that make his blue eyes pop, black jeans,
grey T-shirt with a skull on it, and some new black Nike shoes. Meanwhile there's me, rocking
my signature black hoodie, black and white Adidas my mother insisted would look great on me,
Velma Dinkly glasses that really complement the purple of my eyes, shoulder length black kinky
hair, and best of all some sweatpants.
" Well it took you long enough Myra, you got the goods?"
"You know I carry my spell book almost everywhere I go."
I pulled out the book from my bag, 3 black diamonds stacked on top of each other and running
down the middle and the rest, a shade of purple that matches my eyes, my name written in
black along the spine, in cursive, and a handwritten message from my on the inner cover. I
flipped the book open and reread the inscription .
'To my Myra, teaching you how to use magic has been a journey I would make a thousand times over, Love you forever and always - Dad.'
Dad really went all out when he got this, all the little customizations coming together to make
this a gift I will always cherish.
"Your Dad was really nice," Tyler put his hand on my shoulder to comfort me.
"Thanks, well let's not just screw around, homeroom is gonna start soon."
"Well, we're here to throw some paper on the fire, and your spell book is for me to read while we wait."
"You've seen my spell book a thousand times at least, why do you need to see it again?"
"That comes into play later along with something else" Tyler now sported a sinister grin, letting me know that shit was gonna get interesting. "So Myra, any new spells added to your arsenal?", Tyler began to flip through the pages.
"You know I haven't added anything new to that book in ages."
"Gimme the rundown again on what each one of these do and what the numbers mean, I gotta make sure I know what I'm working with if this shit is gonna pan out like I planned."
I rolled my eyes and took the book back, moving next to him, I began reading.
