The next day, she woke up on the floor, in her previous clothes, tears stains on her cheeks and feeling generally uncomfortable. The light bulb was blinding, she forgot to turn it off.

With a swipe of her hand, water came out of all the corners of the apartment to dance over her laying body.

She hid bottles and containers of all sorts containing water all over her apartment; it made her feel safer. She was in her element, surrounded by things she was in full control of.

She didn't feel like smiling outside, she was too tired for that, but a small part of her felt a spark of joy. Like a child playing with a fascinating toy, she didn't think she could ever get used to being able to control one of the four elements with a single thought. It was an addicting feeling; water had become a part of her very being.

Getting up with difficulty, she turned on her cheap radio. The sound was grizzly but music could be vaguely distinguished, one she didn't know but with a similar rhythm to all the other popular songs.

Walking back to the center of the room, she started dancing, everything else forgotten. When she danced, she emptied her head, she stopped torturing herself with poisonous thoughts. She just moved, and stopped thinking; it always felt like for as long as she danced, the world would stop and give her a break. She could finally breathe.

After what felt like forever, she sat down, panting heavily. The flying water went back to its containers.

Walking without thinking toward her workplace, she was brought back to reality when she saw policemen surrounding the bar and people giving testimony of a man they barely knew; the one she killed, her coworker. How horrible she was, she didn't even remember his name. She remembered the way he died; she made him choke on water droplets. Then she made sure to dissipate the water and left with no traces of the crime.

"Oh, dear lord! Mr.Bart was a true gentleman. He was always smiling, and oh so very kind..." commented an old lay while dabbing her non-existent tears with a flowery handkerchief. The amount of grief in her voice would put any actor to shame. It felt like she watched him grow and his death tore her heart apart. Even the policemen were watching her with pity in their eyes, believing her to be his mother, totally missing the use of 'Mr'.

"It must be hard ma'am. We are deeply sorry for your loss." She nodded heavily, eyes still gazing at the bar.

"What was your relation with Mr.Bart?" asked professionally the policeman while gently patting her shoulder.

"Oh! He was one of my clients. I've actually seen him only once; when he bought flowers at my store." Everyone turned to her bewildered, with how she talked about him, it seemed like he was her son!

From the shadows, it made Sarah chuckle, how hilarious she thought. Turning around and taking care to avoid the few cameras around, she walked away.

Sitting at a cafe's table, she drank the bitter drink while watching the bustling street. The police should be knocking at her door by now...

"Excuse me lady, do you, by any chance, know where the Canve district is?" Looking up, her lips twitched slightly. She couldn't believe it... pointing silently toward the general direction of said district, she returned to her suddenly very interesting coffee.

"Thank you very much, lady..." he trailed off, staring at her with those light blue eyes of his. She seemed to see his puppy tail, wagging, inciting her to be a good person. Really not the type of person she was comfortable with. Too pure for her.

"I'm not anyone worth remembering, Captain." At that, she got up and headed in the opposite direction of the Canve district. He tried to stop her but she waved goodbye behind her back and left. He would forget her soon enough and she would do the same.

Left behind, he frowned. How did she recognize him? He just woke up from his frozen sleep... Clenching his fists, he forced himself to turn his head, he had somewhere to be urgently but he promised himself he would get to the bottom of this. What he didn't know, was that he wouldn't see her for a good couple of years.

"Teacher, do we have homework for tomorrow?" Looking up from her computer, she smiled kindly at her student.

"No, I'm giving you a break." Students that liked you were students that didn't cause trouble.

"Thanks! Bye Ms.Cano!" The whole class exhaled, she was maybe the only teacher they liked; she was kind and explained well, plus, she didn't give a lot of homework!

"Goodbye Laura." She answered not unhappy to finally finish her day. Teaching was tiring... It has been what, 1 years since she started teaching. She got a scientific diploma online and shortly after got employed at a local university where she taught math. She was able to buy a proper apartment in a decent district.

She was back to her apartment, an hour later.

The skill in computer HYDRA taught her was put to her use. She monitored the various organizations' activity; SHIELD, CIA, HYDRA... She had been made aware of the self-entitled god/alien, Loki that was trying to take control of the planet, something she found laughable. Why would he go through all that trouble to govern a planet like theirs...? The humans were parasites, poisoning the planet and themselves! Basically, a time bomb. The question was between whose hands would it explode...

Closing her computer's lid, she sighed and started correcting math tests. In an hour she finished around 20 sheets of papers. They were on average pretty good, even if some made her laugh a bit, they could be considered a good class... Glancing back at the stack of paper towering over her, she almost felt like giving out full grades to everyone; would avoid her the trouble of grading it!

Suddenly, she heard screams and fighting. She had a bad feeling about that. Opening her curtains, she thought she was dreaming; civilians running away, weird mechanical thingies flying through the skies, leveling buildings in the way and weird aliens killing on the streets. The previously bustling and peaceful city had turned in a few hours into this...

Faced with this absurd situation, she didn't know what to do.

Should she do some good deeds and help the heroes or flee like a coward. She could save lives. Either way, staying in her apartment wasn't safe.
