As Cas parked baby in the bunker garage he was debating if he should wake Dean or not. Dean was a nightmare to wake up and Cas wasn't sure if it would be safe. With being so close and in such a tight space it just felt like a broken jaw waiting to happen. But he didn't want to just leave Dean there either. He sucked it up braced for the pain and shook Dean's shoulder gently.
"Dean were home wake up." Cas said softly. He was expecting Dean to start throwing punches but he just slowly moved his head and opened his eyes.
"Shit man sorry I fell asleep on you like that you should have moved me." Dean said looking up into Cas's eyes shocked at the position he woke up in.
"You weren't bothering me it was fine." Cas was visibly alarmed Dean woke up so calmly but he didn't say anything and Dean was to busy hiding the blush on his face to notice.
In all honesty Dean felt like that was the best nap he had in months. He couldn't understand how considering he was cramped in the front seat with Cas and basically laying on top of him. But he felt good. Like he actually got real sleep for once. Without saying anything else Dean got out of the car and started to unload it. Cas grabbed a bag and followed Dean inside the bunker. Dean clapped his hands together and turned to Cas.
"Since your trying shit now do you want to eat breakfast with me?" Dean asked backing up towards the kitchen.
"Sounds nice." Cas said with a small smile.
Dean got to work making food while Cas stood close to watch. Most people would freak out with someone over there shoulder like that but Dean was use to it. It seemed like Cas had no concept of personal space especially with Dean. It use to weird him out but now if Cas wasn't close and clingy Dean would think there was something wrong with him.
Dean was originally thinking of just doing bacon and eggs but since Cas was up for trying shit he went all out.
"So I'm thinking eggs two ways. Pig three ways. Toast. Hash browns. Maybe pancakes to? You seem to like sweet stuff, you'll love pancakes." Dean hummed some led Zeppelin song as he cooked.
"Dean you don't have to go overboard. I know you eat a lot but that sounds excessive." Cas chuckled as Dean waved a spatula in his face.
"You wanna try stuff so I'm going to make shit." Dean had a huge grin on his face. He snapped his fingers together and the song he was just singing started to play throughout the kitchen.
"I guess these powers have some perks." Dean looked at the hand he just snapped. He was pleased that it actually worked.
"A lot of the power just goes off instinct but I can help you learn how to use it more if you want." Cas said as he watched Dean cook intensely.
"That actually sounds like a good Idea. I wasn't really in control last time. It be nice to actually get some pointers instead of going at it blindly."
"While Sam's gone we can practice."
"Sounds like a plan." Dean was done cooking his first course.
He filled up two plates and nodded for Cas to follow him. When they were sat at the table Dean sat a plate in front of both of them and started to point things out to Cas. He explained what each thing on his plate was and what he liked best.
"This is bacon as you should know because it's one of my main food groups." Dean dramatically bit a piece of the strip of bacon he had raised in between them. "It's the best way to eat a pig. And don't you ever let Sam feed you any of that fake shit. It's disgusting and a disgrace."
Cas chuckled at remembering a time when Sam made breakfast and Dean took a bite of the beacon he made before realizing it wasn't real bacon. Dean had spit it all out without hesitation and looked like as he was about to puke. When Sam made a comment on how it pretty much tasted the same Dean had audibly gagged.
Cas had picked at his plate. By time Dean finished his own Cas had only finished his bacon. Dean asked if he was done and when Cas had said yes he took the plates and cleaned them. Once he cleaned up the mess of a kitchen he got started on pancakes. Once finished he made a few more pieces of bacon and brought the plate to Cas. He had arrange the plate into a smiley face. The bacon as a mouth and three slices of butter as eyes and a nose sitting nicely on top the stack of pancakes. Cas's face broke out into a big grin and he laughed when he seen it.
"Your gonna want this." Dean handed Cas a bottle of maple syrup. Cas took a bite of pancake dipped in syrup and his eyes lit up. Dean was pleased with himself and he couldn't stop smiling.
"Try the bacon like this." Dean dipped a piece of bacon in syrup and and took a bite. Cas copied him and his eyes lit up again.
"Way better." Cas hummed.
"What are you guys doing?" Jack had appeared at the table with them.
"Cas seems to be getting some human tastes buds some how so I'm making him food. Want some?" Dean said getting up from his seat a crossed from Cas.
"Yes please. Lots of bacon." Dean taught him well.
The three of them sat enjoying Dean's cooking. They talked with Jack a bit about how things where going upstairs. Then Jack asked about the cases they had been on since last time he was home. Jack missed them a lot and came down as much as he could but being god, a good god took a lot of work.
"Next time we go on a case we will call you. If you get some free time you can come and help us kick some ass." Dean said patting Jack on the back.
"You make it sound like a fun family outing." Cas joked.
"It is." Jack and Dean said in unison. Cas just shook his head as they all laughed. This felt right Dean thought. Almost perfect. Just some people missing around the table.
"Hey we should call Jody and the girls when Sam gets back. See if we all can get together it's been awhile." Dean said.
"Bobby and Charlie to right?!" Jack asked excitedly.
"Of course kid." Dean smirked. Yep this was right. How things should be. The three of them continue talking and were making plans for when every one got together. Jack went silent for a second then sighed.
"I gotta go. I'll be back as soon as I can. Let me know when everyone is going to come over." Jack said wiping his mouth with the back of his sleeve.
"Hey kid wait. Get up." Jack stood and Dean gave him a big bear hug. Jack buried himself deep into Dean's chest.
"Love you." Jack mumbled into Dean. Dean waved Cas to come over and they hugged Jack into a sandwich.
"Love you to kid." Dean said as he pulled away.
"Bye dad love you." Jack said as he gave Cas a proper hug. When he got back he started calling Cas dad all the time. He has slipped once or twice and called Dean dad to. Dean never said anything about it so Jack tried not to do it since he didn't know how Dean felt about it. Jack had also asked Sam if he could call him uncle and Sam was thrilled.
"I love you to Jack. If you need me I can be there in an instant." Cas said with a bit of pain in his voice.
"Cas he's god, he got this." Dean ruffled jacks hair as if he were a small child. They said there final good byes and Jack was gone with the sound of wings.
