Adrien decides he needs to speak to Marinette alone. Alya, and Alix take the hint and walk away. They can tell he does not want them to intrude.
"Marinette, why did you agree to date Joe?" Adrien confronts her.
"I saw you fighting each other and I thought he would kill you. I could not let him," Marinette says.
"So, you do not like him then, not even a little?" Adrien asks. He wishes he could be the one to date her.
"No, of course not," Marinette says.
" Joe is rude, and he flirts with all the girls. He even flirts with my sister, Alix in front of me." Marinette responds.
"Wow, that bad huh?" Adrien remarks.
"Yes, he is the worst boyfriend ever. He has not taken me on date yet, and I already can not stand him," Marinette tells Adrien.
"I see," Adrien replies. He sighs and thinks, can not you see I love you?
"M-Marinette, I love you! I can stand to see you with him!" Adrien confesses. He sighs and looks away from her.
"I recall you said at one point that Joe would never win. I feel as if he already has," Adrien yells at her.
" How has Joe won? I already told you I do not like him. " Marinette says.
"He has you and I have nothing," Adrien replies sadly.
"Why can not you believe me I did it to protect you?" Marinette replies.
"Protect me, how? M-Marinette, you broke my heart!" Adrien tells her.
"Just go!" He yells at her.
"A-Adrien, I never meant to hurt you," Marinette remarks.
"Well, you did so please leave me alone," Adrien says sadly.
"I will try to make it up to you, I am not sure how or when but promise I will," Marinette tells him.
"Nothing, can fix it, M-Marinette," Adrien reminds her.
" I suppose I will see you later," Adrien says. He walks away sad and confused.
Marinette watches him go and sighs. She thinks, great I should never have let him go. She wishes she knew how to fix this.
She thinks, Ugh, I should have agreed to date Joe! Now, Adrien is hurt and it is all my fault.
Oh, Adrien! I do not want to see you sad. I wish I could kiss your sadness away, but I can not.
Adrien sighs and thinks, why she have to be with Joe? He may be my brother, but it is not far. I can not just can not be happy for him. I love her, but I have already lost her.
He does not believe her excuse to protect him. He figures if she cares about me she should have let me fight for her honor.
He thinks, Marinette might say she does not feel anything for Joe, but she does not love me either. He can not believe he thought she was different and he stood a chance with her.
Adrien shakes his head in dismay. He weeps as he sits under the tree again and thinks, Blueberry Gal, I never should have kissed you.
