You Are My Family (Rey) - Part 1

You and Rey had been friends for years, both meeting while on Jakku. You were both scavengers trying your best to survive. You were both there for each other when you need it the most. So, when a small droid rolled into her life, you hopped on board and stuck by her side for the ride. After all this time, all the things you both have been through. You had fallen in love with her. She was such a strong woman who always saw the best out of people.

You had never gotten use to the harsh cold that space had offered. You were almost always shaking, lips quivering slightly. Rey, on the other hand, was just radiating warmth. She would wrap her arm around you, rubbing the goosebumps off of your arms. Her soft hands against your skin felt so comforting.

"Are you ever going to get use to this?" She asked quietly, her tone was full of care. You couldn't help the smile that spread across your face as she pulled you into a hug. Warmth spreading all over your body, you took in a deep breath and sighed as you settled into her arms. She smelt like lavender and fresh linen; you could get lost in it. You were forced out of your safety net by the sound of loud footsteps storming over to you.

"Hey Rey," your head snapped up, seeing Finn practically hovering over Rey. You took a step back from her, leaving the one place you called home. Rey glanced up at the tall man and smiled "Hey Finn, what do you need?" She asked, the smile growing on her face. You wished she smiled at you like that. She always looked so lovely with a smile on her face, so lighthearted. Like the worlds around you weren't falling apart at the seams.

Finn was a nice guy, but he was super protective over Rey. He would push you away from her and it seemed like the two of you were both so far away. You watched as he guided her away from you, you casted your eyes down to the ground, not wanting to show anyone that it made you upset.

Rey snapped her head around as she was being pulled away from you. "I'll see you later, okay!" She shouted from across the hall. A bright smile plastered on her face; you nodded your head to her. A weak smile on your face, knowing that it was not going to happen. She was always with Finn. And Finn would always talk about her.

You were so sure that they were secretly together, only that everyone knew the secret. You shoved your hands into your pockets and slowly made your way to the control deck.

As you walked into the control room, you saw General Leia talking amongst the various technicians. You made your way over to her; she had become a mother figure to you. She would smack some sense into you when you were doubting yourself and encouraged you whenever you were excelling.

Leia saw you slumping over to her from the corner of her eye. "Excuse me for a moment." She said simply as she got up from where she sat and made her way over to you. You tried to act okay, but deep down you knew that she saw right through you. Leia gingerly placed her hand on the small of your back and led you over to a more secluded part of the room.

"Okay, what's wrong?" She said in a motherly tone. It was firm, yet full of love. You shook your head, looking down at your shoes. Noticing how dirty they have become over the years.

"I'm not stupid (y/n), I know when your upset." She gently placed her finger under your chin and raised your head to make you look at her.

"So... There's this person... Who I have strong feelings for..." You mumbled as you played with your fingers.

"Rey." Leia stated as if she had known the entire time. Your lips fell open slightly, in slight shock of how she could've known. "I can see it from the way you look at her, everyone sees it." She grabbed your hands to comfort you. "But, go on though." She quickly said.

You shook your head and sighed "Well, she doesn't like me like that. She seems to be pushing me away and spending more time with Finn. It hurts. I mean, I'm happy if she's happy. I want what ever is best for her and I'll always support her. Doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt." Leia just listened to you rant, all the emotions coming out of you that you had held inside of you. A small smirk forming on her face.

"You know that Poe and Finn are together right?" She chuckled loudly as she began rubbing your arms. "Sometimes I just can't believe how blind you are at time. Now, I have to get back to work. Just go talk to her about it." She placed her hand on your face, another thing she did to help comfort you.

You turned on your heels and b-lined straight out of the room. Your face was heated up from realizing how stupid you were for not seeing that Poe and Finn were together. That meant that Rey was not with Finn. That didn't mean that she liked you the way you did her. You wondered the halls of the ship, lost in thought, when you heard the familiar stomping coming from behind you.

"(y/n)!" Finn's voice sounded panicked; he was fidgeting. You became extremely anxious, mind racing over all of the things that could have possibly happened. "What's wrong? Is everything okay?!"

"It's Rey, something is wrong with her. She's just on the ground in her room and I didn't know what to do." That was all he had to say before you were sprinting away from him. You were horrified about what could be wrong with her. You didn't want to lose her, not now.

After what felt like an eternity of sprinting, you finally got to Rey's room. You practically crashed through her door,

"REY ARE YOU OK-" you cutyourself off once you noticed that Rey was standing in the middle of her room. A table was set up, completed with silk tablecloth, candles, and elegant looking meal set down on the table. The room smelt like heaven, things that you have never smelt before, but were it made your mouth water. 

"I didn't think you'd gethere so fast."
