(Slow Updating) Winterwatcher: Rise Of The Hybrids

Chapter 3

Trees sprouted out of the earth reaching out for the sky with all their branches pointing upwards. They grew everywhere, surrounding Winter. All of a sudden the trees burst into flames and the sky turned black with smoke.

After a while winter could see dragons a Silkwing with azure blue wings in the lead, shooting coils of burning silk at the forest. Behind him, a solid wall of fire and smoke.

Everything was burning the trees the grass everything. The bonfire spread across the horizon incinerating everything in its path.

Winter shivered. he allowed himself to close and open his eyes and there it was the peace of Pyrrhia. But that was wrong. Pyrrhia wasn't safe. There was danger enclosing the island.

He opened his eyes. He was at the hospital, at The Sanctuary. He grogily sat up to have is view obscured by a small set of black wings. 

"Winter! You're alive!"

"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well your pulse stopped for five hours and you have been unconcious for over one week."

"Three moons, I was?"

"YES! But what is important is that you are alive."

"Hmm... Seems like a waste of precious sleep in my opinion. Why aren't you in bed?"

Was it Winter's imagination or had Moon looked a little reluctant to tell WInter the truth. "I don't really sleep well at night."

"Okay then, but you'd better get some sleep right now."

"Happy Hatching Day" shouted Qibli, Winter and Kinkajou

Moon jumped out of bed and laughed, "You idiots."

"I always thought myself as one, "Winter replied at the same time as Qibli said, "Winter's the idiot here."

Moon and Kinkajou giggled while Winter gave Qibli a 'are you sure you are not the idiot here' look.

"I think everyone should get some more sleep, "Moon announced, giving a significant look at Winter.

"Alright then."

Winter woke up. It was strangely quiet without the chatting of the dragons at midnight.

He opened the door to moons room only to find silence. Moon was not there. Winter took his SkyFire and found the quietly humming mind of Moon. There was someone else with her. The other dragon's mind was quiet. Skyfire. It could only be Turtle, Kinkajou or...

Qibli

He drew out the emerald that could give effects and said "Invisibility"

He drew out the Skyfire and gritted his teeth. He felt guilty using so much magic so he had enchanted a single emerald that looked like Moon's eyes to give him abilities and erase them after. "Bring me within earshot."

He flew and flew harder and harder as the emerald speedily dragged him through the air, until finally he heard them.

"I want to ask you a question."

Rage rushed through his blood. that voice was unmistakably Qibli's. He dropped his Skyfire onto the ground hastily, hoping to reply from Moon's mind. "You already know the answer to the question."

Winter's muscles loosened and he calmed down Moon's voice always had made him feel calm. It was peaceful and tranquil, it was like a soft sofa and he could sink into it.

"I do?"

Of course you do, rang Moon's mind

"So i'm going to ask you one more time who do you love more me or Winter?"

Winter's heart sped up he wanted to know, he wanted to know the answer he made sure to shield his mind so Moon couldn't hear it.

I.. I. I wish I could tell you, echoed Moon's mind before she said "I love you both equally"

Qibli snorted and flew away. Winter slowly followed. Winter couldn't get Moon's words out of his head. "I wish I could tell you... I wish I could tell you... I wish I could tell you..." But what did it mean? If she didn't want to tell Quibli then does that mean she likes me better?

For the next few days whenever he saw Moon, her thought would run through his mind. He started to be curious, curious about what she was thinking all the time. He couldn't stand it any longer. He took his Skyfire and enchanted it to allow the carrier to mind read through the protection of Skyfire." And be able to be turned off.
