A/N: Small trigger warning for the second half of this chapter. Things get dark and there are mentions of death.

I woke up in someone's arms and to something beeping. I didn't remember falling asleep, but I was wide awake now.

I started to try to roll away from whoever I was lying with and ended up face- down on the floor. The noise woke the other person up. The silence told me it was Aaron.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I looked at Aaron and Smiled.

"Good morning!" I beamed, knowing well it couldn't be morning.

"It's two pm." Aaron signed.

"Yeah, I figured." I stood up and fixed my outfit. Aaron stood up and ruffled his hair.

"Why were you so tired?"

"Nightmares and I drank coffee. I tend to use coffee to calm down, so it wasn't the best mix today."

"Alright. So, do you want some late lunch or early dinner? We could just eat the cookies if you wanna wait for dinner time."

"I'm gonna be eating cookies for the next three months, I can just wait." I shrugged.

"Cool, I'm about to go comatose, so I'm gonna get some sugar in me." Aaron looked down at a small device at his arm. He went into his kitchen and came back with three cookies and a juice box. He sat back down and started eating.

"What's that?" I asked, pointing to the device that was still beeping.

"Omnipod. I'm diabetic." Aaron quickly finished his juice box. "Sorry about the beeping, my blood sugar is low."

"It's fine! I'd prefer the beeping over you going comatose."

Alex came running in, barking loudly and nudging Aaron. Aaron pulled out a treat and gave it to Alex, calming him down.

"I guess he just heard that. I don't set it very loud because I usually don't take a nap in the middle of the day, but you seemed so peaceful."

"You didn't have to let me sleep. I could have gone home and gone to sleep."

"I didn't want to. You were upset and fell asleep. I figured that you waking up alone and in a different place than you fell asleep would freak you out."

"Oh. Aww, that was really sweet of you!"

I hugged him, nuzzling into his chest. He kissed my temple and rested his chin on my head.

We stood like that for a bit, enjoying each other's company. He broke first.

"What do you want for dinner?" Aaron signed.

"I'm fine with anything, honestly." I shrugged. "What can you cook?"

I opened my door to see Kawaii~Chan weight suitcases with Dante.

"Hey, doesn't your plane leave-in, like, an hour?" I asked, hanging my coat up.

"Thirteen hours from now." Dante reread the paper with their reservations. "I have quadruple checked, and called the airport."

"He wasn't letting anything ruin this." Kawaii~Chan blushed. "You aren't spending the night at Aaron's again?" 

"Nah, he's hanging out with his sister." I waved her off. "I think I should call my mom." 

"You sure? You've been really off these past few days and you look like you're about to pass out." 

"... You have a point. I'm gonna take a shower or something and take a nap." I nodded. 

"Dante and I will be down here! Take care of yourself. If you want, you can use one of my face masks." Kawaii~Chan smiled.

"I just might take you up on that offer."

I woke up to a rather quiet house. I rubbed my eyes walked to the top of the staircase. The house was eerily quiet. 

I walked down the steps to see Aaron and Zane in my living room. I swallowed thickly and walked up to them. They just stared at me, or maybe through me.

In the blink of an eye, Aaron was gone and Zane was smirking.

"I told you that no one but I would love you." Zane hissed. "And now you've gone and hurt yourself."

He was so much easier to handle in his nasally high school voice. His current voice was a lot deeper and scared me a lot more.

"Don't look so surprised. Did you really think he loved you? You're pathetic. He probably thinks you're annoying. No, no, everyone knows you're annoying. Katelyn and Kawaii~Chan are so close to leaving you. Did you notice that? I mean, Katelyn didn't tell you about the proposal. You think you'd be involved in that." 

"The- The clarinet..." I choked. 

"Sending you off to a band audition you won't pass? Just another move to keep you out of the house and away from them."

"They a- agreed to-"

"They felt sorry. They just don't want you being homeless to be pinned on them. You'd think you'd be smart enough to realize that? I guess not. You're just as stupid as you were as a freshman. "

"I- I..."

"I could keep you here, with me, forever, Aphmau. I could love you. Who else would?"

This could not be what death would be like. I won't have to face him for the rest of eternity, right? I could barely face him for a year, let alone until...

"You don't want to wake up, do you?"

I closed my eyes and covered my ears.

"Go on, wake up, Aphmau. Wake up..."

"Aphmau!" Katelyn's voice finally met my ears. I sat up in a panic and covered my mouth. Katelyn took a slight step back, worry painted on her face. "Hey, hey, it was just a dream, it was just a dream."

Katelyn sat next to me on my bed and pulled me into a hug. She started muttering about how she knew she shouldn't have let him stay Christmas Eve.

She ran a hand through my hair to try to help me calm down. "It's almost ten. Got take your meds and the rest of the day is yours."

Also, the reads on some of the more recent parts have been lower than usual. I want honest feedback: What are some aspects of this story that you guys dislike? Is there something I should do differently? I want honest opinions. I don't write this for me, I publish this for you guys.
