Marco's P.O.V
I like to think of myself as a reasonable man, especially since my position as the prince allows me to make all kinds of unreasonable demands. I pride my self upon being an even tempered man, the sanctity of my word.
But this was just absurd.
As news of Chloe's departure swept through the hall, head after head swivelled in my direction.
I turned to Charlotte and regretted it, she looked as if she were about to burst out laughing any moment.
" Don't" I told her.
she complied, but barely.
" shall I fetch her?" I asked.
Her eyes were dancing with mischief. " Oh, yes, I think you should".
" well" I murmured. " I can fetch my lovely be-throed and drag her back for a dance and demonstrate to the assembled guest that I have her under my thumb".
Charlotte looked amused.
" But" I continued," It would look like I care".
Don't you care?" she asked.
I took a brief moment to consider that. " Not very much, no"
"I could simply remain here and refuse to make a scene" I mused.
" Forgive me, but I think the scene was already made" Charlotte murmured.
" I'll allow her to savour her moment" I reply.
" how generous"
I would have returned my own sarcastic remark if I hadn't spotted a head peeking out behind a curtain that separated the assembly hall and a side corridor.
So she hadn't gone far.
" I shall dance as I had planned". I announced.
" Oh.... shall I get Chloe?" Charlotte all to quickly replies.
" No, she obviously loathes being required to dance, you shall be my partner"
" M-me" She looked surprised.
" You know I loathe these aristocratic balls, you can't imagine I would dance with any one else".
" Bu-but Chloe..." She stammers
"Has declined my offer for a dance" I finish her sentence for her. " which leaves you my friend".
I glance back at the curtain, to see Chloe peeping again, I smile. Just a little. And was satisfied to see her gasp and duck behind the curtain. I allow my self a small chuckle, She'll be watching this dance. every last step of it, I'm sure of it.

Sorry I know that it's short but I split the chapter in two, the next part will be longer I promise Chloe's part is like 2 or 3 pages.
I'll post the other part tomorrow, I already wrote it so don't worry I will post it tomorrow.
