Awkward silence filled the hall.
"....Let's just get to class shall we?" You broke the agonizing silence, getting agreements from the others.
As you walked on, England and America were in front, walking beside each other, glares thrown every now and again. You were close behind them, but France trailed a bit behind. You looked back at him, he was deep in thought. His eyebrows furrowed deep, his lips tugged into a frown, and his blue eyes troubled, he looked down slightly, loose strands of hair falling out of his ponytail and framing his face.
Turning back towards the front you look at America. You could only see his back, but you saw how rigid his movements were. He was slumped a bit, looking down. His hair falling forwards into his face, his cowlick stood against gravity, but you noticed even it looked slumped.
Looking at England's back you could barely see him. He was standing straight up, his hair looking a bit messy. He glanced back at you and you offered him a small smile.
As the walk continued the glares between the American and Englishman faltered, the air was more cheery between them, as if they had made up. France now walked beside you, no longer looking so upset, and you four even talked a bit to each other. Stopping at a big door on the left side of the hall England spoke.
"Here it is. English class." He peeked into the small window. "Ah, we are very late, aren't we?" He looked at his watch, "The teachers here already."
"Mr. Lawson?" America asked, England nodded. "Aw man, he's a hardass!"
"DON'T SAY SUCH THINGS, DAMNIT!" England began to lecture America as France 'ohonhon~ed'.
The door slammed open, a very angry looking, short man with a hat standing in the doorway.
"You're LATE!" He had a thick yorkshire accent that you could recognize from when you went to Yorkshire for a 'vacation'. It wasn't a relaxing one. "Get inside, ya'-" He looked at you, seeming surprised.
"Oh? A new girl, welcome to me class. Sorry you had to come with these incompetant gits." His voice softened, "Late on the first day? I'll let it slide, I got no doubts these fools led you on a goose chase." He stepped aside to let in you and the others.
Upon walking in you saw two familiar faces. Germany and Japan were there. They were towards the back of the class. Japan gave a small wave as you approached them.
"May I sit here?" You gestured to the empty desk next to theirs, they nodded.
You sat and looked around the room, there was, of course, America, France, Germany, Japan, and England. There were also two others, a tall blonde man in a big coat, and another blonde man with a polar bear. You turned back to Germany and Japan.
"So, why are you two here?" You asked, you hoped you didn't seem rude.
"I'm learning better English, it vill help vith business." Germany replied bluntly.
"I need herp (help) pronouncing my 'er's." Japan said as he sketched in a notebook. You looked at Germany, confused.
"His 'L's." He seemed to catch on.
"Oh..." Japan's head popped up as he realized he pronounced it wrong. "Sorry." His cheeks were tinted with embarrassment.
"Alright class, let's continue! There's a difference between formal and informal English, formal is most often used..." Mr Lawson began to lecture as he wrote different examples on the white board.
