Chapter 5

I was on my way with my friend to her house when I chatted him. Then he sent me a selfie. He was already at the bus terminal going to Banaue.

Me: "What time does your bus leave?"

Him: "‪8pm‬. Thanks again for the data, princess. You saved my life."

(I gave him 50 pesos worth of load before he left because his data expired the time that he was about to leave for the airport and it was already too late to look for an e-load store.)

Me: "Hehe... no prob. It's just 50 pesos. Thanks for the treat also. The tour and the nice lunch at the Top."

Him: "It's nothing. It's just normal that a man will treat a woman. That's how it is in France."

Me: "Same here in the Philippines. Sometimes, depending on the status... like if you're just friends or best friends or lovers! Most of the time, bestfriends go Dutch treat. They pay their own meal. Hahaha!"

Him: "Crazy girl! By the way, I already figured out how to go to your town. From Banaue, to Baguio then to your place."

Me: "Great! See you soon babylove... 😘"

We didn't notice the time, it was already 12 midnight and we were still texting. His bus left ‪at 9pm‬ (though he boarded ‪at 8pm‬). We were chatting the whole time. He was at the bus going to Banaue. My friend and I were stuck in traffic going to her house until we arrived at half past 10pm and I packed my things again because I had to stuff my pasalubong in my small luggage. At 12:20am, we had to say goodnight. I told him I had an early flight tomorrow. Gotta wake up ‪at 3:30am‬, leave ‪at 4:30am‬ for the airport, maybe arrive ‪at 5am‬ and fly ‪at 7am‬.

Waking up too early in the morning was difficult but I had to follow my alarm or I'll be left by my flight. When I arrived at the airport, I went to pre-dep right away since I already checked in online. While at the pre-dep lounge, I sent him a selfie (lol sending each other selfies has became a habit since he left). After 5 minutes, I got a reply.

Him: "Oh, who is this beautiful lady?"

Me: "Hahaha I dunno! I just thought you might like this lady, so I sent you a pic of her."

Him: "Thanks, good choice. I like her."

(Then he sent me a selfie too. He was in a tricycle.)

Me: "Hey cute boy! Nice tricycle hehehe... Btw, I'm leaving in 30 minutes."
Him: "Have a safe flight, baby. I don't know if I can use my phone in the jungle. So, I send you a text when I am back tomorrow."

Me: "Yeah, I understand. Be safe there.

Him: "Bisou bebe. Take care, honey."

("Bisou" is French for "kiss")

Me: "You too, babylove. Kisses."

I arrived home and sent him a selfie, saying, "I'm home." However, I know he won't be able to reply. He went trekking to the Banaue Rice terraces the whole day. Therefore, no communication also the whole day. ‪At 2:30‬ in the afternoon, he chatted.

Him: "I just finished my trek."

Me: "Yay nice! How was it? Did you have fun?"

Him: "It was amazing, babe! Crazy place! I wanna go to you now but unfortunately there's no direct bus from Banaue to your place. I'll have to go to Baguio first which is 6 hrs. Stay overnight then travel to your place in the morning."

Me: "No prob, babe if you come tomorrow. Just one more sleep tonight, then we'll be together again."

Him: "Yes babe, sorry. I thought I could already come today. By the way, what do you want me to bring for you? You want Banaue rice? Lol."

Me: "I want the Banaue Rice Terraces itself! Hahaha! Ok, just get me a fridge magnet."

Him: "Just tell me, green or red?"

Me: "No purple? Ok red."

Him: "Okay, got it. I hope you'll like this. Woooh, I already smell like a goat from the trek! It's muddy."

Me: "Just take a shower when you reach Baguio."

Him: "No no, I'll keep this smell for you!"

Me: "Crazy boy! Don't come near me if you smell like a goat! Hahaha!"

The next day, while at work, we were communicating because he was already on his way ‪at 11am‬ to see me. So, ‪between 4-5pm‬, he'll be here in time when I get off work. At one point, he told me that he's going straight to Manila and not dropping by to see me. I joked with him (it was a private joke and I wish not to share it, lol) and I didn't know I made him upset. I was guilty and told him I was just joking. Then he admitted he was at first but then he doesn't wanna break his promise. He said if he already said that he's going, then he's going. No matter what. That's sweet of him, don't you think?

‪At 4:06pm, I got a missed call from him. I chatted him instead because I was still at work.‬

Me: "Babylove, where are you now? Sorry, I was in a meeting. Just finished."

Him: "At SM now babe. Sorry, I didn't mean to call you. I know you're still at work."

Me: No prob, babe. Anyway, my phone is in silent mode. Just wait for me there. I'll be there soon."

Him: "Perfect! No worries, I'll just wait for you here, my princess. I'm having a smoothie."

(Then he sent me a selfie. He was at Jamba Juice.)
