A/N I was listening to the song rivers and roads while i wrote this so it goes along with it well🥺🥺🥺

"i dont understand.." he whispered now standing up from where he had been sitting while comforting me, "you heard me all those times i begged for you to come back to me, all the times i told you i loved you and how much i missed you like hell you just..never said anything back..?" he asked as tears filled up in his eyes.

"david i-" i began talking but he sniffled causing me to stop and stand up next to him, he was now looking out my window.

i reached and grabbed his arm softly, "hey.." i whispered as he looked at me with so much sadness in his eyes, "why didnt you ever come back to me elena.." he whimpered as i put my hands around his face and focused fully on him and no longer me or our past, just right now.

"oh baby i would have passed every road and river till i reached you...if that was how it was supposed to be.." i spoke, gently. i slightly moved my thumb across his cheek wiping the tears away, ".. i wanted to tell you i loved you and missed you also.. i wanted to crawl back into your arms and i-i just couldnt, youre happy with her..theres nothing wrong with that david, you are allowed to be happy.." i said as he nodded and pulled me into a hug. we swayed back in forth, both now in tears just.. trying to find comfort in one another.

"this time next year we will look back and laugh at all this.." he said as his hands found their way to my back and his finger tips moved up and down slowly.

i giggled softly and nodded, "i hope so.." i said as he whispered back, "me too.." he pulled away and gave me a little smile and wiping the tears away from his eyes.

"youre my best friend.." he said as his eyes found their way to mine, "you will always be my best friend no matter where we go in life elena." he spoke as i nodded, "you too david.." i said as he grabbed a hold of my hand playing with it a little.

david leaned down and kissed my cheek softly, i could have swore the sensation of his lips on my skin again, it felt like fire.

"bye e.." he said as he walked out of my room and i waved bye.

"rivers and roads till i reach you.." i whispered as he shut the door, and it was true. i would have passed ever road, ever river, every mountain to find my way back to him.

i wanted to run after him, and tell him to come back to me like the times he did me. i played in my head over and over again all the ways things changed, as much as i hated it what i told him..if things were supposed to be different, something in me would have made me answer him. David deserves happiness, steadiness, peacefulness, a constant love and support. something he could never get from me.

a part of me hoped hed come back in and ask to stay one more night. i felt like i had always been begging for one more night.

i wish things were easier, simpler, i wish i had the answer for why this was all happening.

"hey elena." zane said before coming into my room.

"y-yeah..?" i asked as he walked in and looked at me with a small smile, "wanna talk about it?" he asked as he sat down on my bed and i shook my head and gave a simple nope.

"okay we dont have to.." he said as we both sat in silence.

"you dont have to sit here.." i said as we just watched tv.

"i know i dont have to, but i need to.. for you" he said as if on que, heath walked in, "yeah me too." he said as i gave them a smile, " i love you guys.." i said as we group hugged.

months have passed since david and i shared a moment in my room. after that night, nothing else ever happened between david and i. no flirting, no weird comments, no looks from across the room. it was like how it was when we were in high school, just best friends again.

We are leaving for Miami for davids bachelor party in the morning and nat had just left for her weekend bachelorette party, she had asked me to go but after the boys asked me to play mom, which she was okay with. Natalie had always been extra nice to me since her and david got together, i think she can see the heartache all over my face.

"elena you have everything packed up baby?" heath asked as we all piled everything into the car since we were staying at davids tonight.

"yup i think so" i said looking around one more time. we then headed to davids as we all sat around talking about plans for the weekend.

"how many girls you guys think i could hook up with?" durte dom asked causing everyone to throw in numbers. and i threw a pillow at him.

"i bet i can get more" todd winked at him as they argued over it as we all laughed.

"they are so dumb arent they" david giggled while videoing them. my eyes glanced over to him quickly as a small smile appeared on my face, "yeah they are." i said looking away and back to the others.

we all fell asleep and woke up the next morning all grumpy considering it was super early. we made our way to the airport.

i sat with zane, heath, and jeff.

i fell right back asleep and woke up to a snap of a picture.

"w-what?" i said yawning and noticed i had my head laid on jeffs shoulder and he had his head laying on top of my head, fast asleep.

"ooohhh cuteeeee" matt said from across the aisle, and i had noticed david look over and i knew the look he had written all over his face, anger.

he shook his head and looked away as we arrived to Miami. i tapped jeffs leg as his head lifted off of mine, "oh sorry.." he said in a very hot raspy tired voice, "its okay" i smiled back him.

"youre a cute sleeper." he said as he nudged me and i felt my face fluster up, "you too, im assuming" i said as we laughed.

we walked into our hotel room completely amazed, it was beautiful.

"wow" i whispered as david walked up next to me, "beautiful isnt it.." he said looking at me.

"the hotel?" i asked as i looked over at him smiling in awh of this place.

"that too.." he said and walked away. i was stunned by the words he had just said. months have passed and now were here for his bachelor party and he wants to pull this. it has to be because of jeff.

"Alright guys, and lady, in honor of our baby david getting married in a few short days, we party like its nothing because youre held down forever now baby." zane said as we all held up shots.

"congrats buddy, but what happens in miami stays in miami." he said.

"ill agree to that one." jeff said as he smirked at me.

"to davids last nights as a free man!" alex yelled, and with that we all cheered and took our shots.

"LETS GET FUCKED UPPPP!" heath yelled, and so it began.
