--flashback--

"elena sweetheart, if hes being mean to you, you tell me" mrs dobrik yelled frorm the kitcken as david had me in a head lock and i was squirming in his grip.

"get off of me you idiot!" i screeched and bit his arm causing him to finally let go of me.

"owww youre evil" he said glaring at me and sticking his bottom lip out holding his arm.

"dont worry mom! im fine! dont worry about me, only elena" he said rolling his eyes as we walked into the kitchen and she laughed.

"Well she is my favorite kid thats not technically mine" she said pulling me into a hug.

"hear that dave? IM the fav" i said sticking my tongue out at him as he flicked me in the head.

we ran upstairs and i jumped on his bed and he followed.

"thank god you are around, life would be so boring without you e!" he said as he grabbed his phone and i smiled to myself, "what do you want now dobrik?" I asked as he did his loud goofy laugh, "will you help me make this vine?"

he grinned his big grin and i of course helped him make one, I was truly the master mind behind all the vines.

--present time--

"me too.." i whispered back to mrs dobrik as she took my hand and we walked outside. there was still some time before it started so we walked around the small pond sitting next to the church.

"elena.. call me crazy but i always thought i would be attending yours and davids wedding, I love natalie.. but you were always supposed to be my daughter in law.." she said laughing to herself although the words stung.

"do you think..shes good for him..?" i asked as she stopped and turned her body towards the lake intertwining our arms as silence crept through, you could only hear the distant talks and the wind from the pond, when finally she broke the silence.

"i think... natalie is the perfect wife for someone. shes loving, caring, funny, she truly loves my boy.. and she will treat him great and she will be great for him.." she said trailing off.

"but.." i whispered and she nodded, "but she is not you elena my dear. you are perfect for david, you love with every ounce of you only to him, you are adventurous, curious, a never settling soul that david needs.. natalie will eventually want him to slow down in life and he wont.. you wouldnt want him to, youd go with him not against him.." she spoke as I looked over at her.

"i dont know mrs. d, natalie is super supportive and was there all the times I wasn't.." I said as she squeezed my arm a little tighter.

"you were there as much as you could be. david knew that, I knew that, everyone knew. he pushed you away, didnt talk to you for years, and he comes to you heartbroken over liza and you were there with opened arms, not many can do that. david will screw up..hes so young and still hasnt experienced life yet.." she said but before we could speak anymore heath came yelling for us saying it was time.

my heart raced a little more, "elena sweetie you know you will always be in our family. I love you endlessly and so did my husband" she said pulling me into a hug, "I love you guys too" I whispered as we walked back in. she of course went a different way to walk with david as I found my seat in between heath and zane.

everyones eyes followed me, the ones who knew of course the past of david and I. glances came and went as if they were waiting for me to get up and leave. my hands held tight onto zanes and heaths as music started to play and david walked down with his mom. his eyes searched and searched and his smile grew seeing everyone, until his eyes met mine. they didn't leave mine until he was fully past me and heath noticed as he gave me a look.

"what was that about?" he whispered into my ear and I shrugged shaking my head, "I don't know" i whispered back.

the brides maids and grooms men walked down the aisle until we saw natalie appear and everyone stood up. i slowly stood up trying to get my body to stop shaking.

--flashback--

"mom quit i dont love david" i said rolling my eyes as my mom hounded me about dating david.

"oh honey yes you do, dont even deny it." she said closing my laptop and sitting next to me.

"never, hes my best friend" i laughed at her insane comment.

"okay tell me this, youre standing there in a white church filled with love and happiness and all your friends and you see david standing there looking handsome as ever, its his wedding, hes marrying someone else. how do you feel?" she asked as I sat there and thought.

"i feel, sad.." i said looking down at my hands.

--present time--

i did, i felt sad. i felt.. nothing i ever did before. zane noticed the panic on my face as natalie made her way to david and they stood hand in hand.

"i cant...i cant do this.." i said as zane grabbed me and pulled me into his warmth.

"youre strong. you can do this elena baby.." he whispered as tears filled my eyes. mrs dobrik noticed and gave me a sad look.

"you may be seated" the minister spoke as everyone sat in awh of this moment. oh, how beautiful it is.

"we are gathered here today on this wonderful day celebrating the new journey david and natalie are taking together..." the minister continued but after that I completely zoned out.

a few minutes passed as my eyes trailed up to david during his talking, "david repeat after me" the minister spoke and david nodded smiling at natalie.

"i david....take you, natalie, to be my wife....to have and to hold from this day forward for better or for worse.... for richer, for pooer and in sickness or in health..." david spoke as the minister said a final part.

"to love and to cherish, till death do us part" the minister said.

david began repeating the words as his eyes shifted from natalies stare into mine.

"....till death do us part.." he said as he looked back at her. but I wasn't the only one that noticed, when she turned to look where his sight took him it was right at me.

"David do you take natalie, it be your wife?" the minister asked as a ring was placed in his hand.

"i do" he said as i squeezed my eyes shut not wanting to see anymore until the unthinkable happened.

"natalie do you take david, to be your husband?" the minister asked and soon it was silent.

"i...i..um.." she stuttered at her words as panic rose through everyone and david looked, lost.

"im sorry.. im no the one he wants to be here with today.." she spoke as gasps filled the air, "..im sorry david i .. i cant marry you.." she said and with that she picked up the dress and ran out with david left there in shock, not moving, not speaking.

we all rushed to davids side as he slowly looked around and sat down. he was indeed, in shock.

"shes..gone..she said... no" david said as we all looked at him in great sadness.

"i have to um..go.." david said as he rushed out and left, and everyone was left there.. looking at me.
