It was around 9:30 in the morning when my mother came into my room to tell me to get dressed. I knew what this day was about and my stomach was a nervous wreck. This could either go two different ways. Either I found him today or I didn't.
I eventually get up out of bed and head to the shower. After my shower I fixed my hair and picked out my clothes, a red and black flannel, some dark jeans, my black leather jacket, and a pair of dark brown colored combat boots. I quickly grab my leather watch and tie the loose strings on quickly. I then head down stairs to where my parents are patiently waiting.
"Good morning darling, how are you this morning?" My father asks with a smile in his voice. My dad is always happy, it's hard to get him upset. He's a tall man, he was six foot three. He had dark brown eyes and light brown hair, I obviously didn't get very many traits from him except my facial structure. I was five foot five, I had long dirty blond hair, and blue eyes.
"Good morning to you too. I'm good thank you. How are you and mom?""I'm good as well, you're mother is a bit nervous about today."
"Well that makes two of us." I look at my mom and she has her hands over her face. "Are you that stressed mom?"
She removes her hands and says "No, it's just that this is your first time doing this and who you're meeting today is the son of one of my childhood friends. I'm going to be blunt, there's a chance he won't be the one with your mark."
I look down at where my watch rested and start to fumble with it. "Well even if he doesn't that's okay with me. I'm barely eighteen. I could go on with life for a while before I found my soulmate. It's okay. I promise." I gave her a reassuring smile. I looked at both of them, my dad just nods his head and smiles a warm smile, my mother on the other hand looks shocked. I suppose my answer wasn't what she expected. Before we head to the Pollack's we stop at my favorite restaurant to grab a bite.
After we ate we then left to go to the Pollack's. It was going to be a long drive. They lived on the other side of the city. Normally it would take forty-five minutes to get there but since it was raining there was a lot more traffic than usual. It would take a little over an hour to arrive so I put in my headphones and drifted off to sleep to kill time.
When we arrived at the Pollack's my mother woke me just before we entered the gates. Their were vines that had pretty flowers and crept up along the gate and fence, the path to the house was long but the scenery was beautiful. Trees were lined up on each side, their branches stretched across the sky as if they were reaching out to the trees across from them, the end of the branches eventually tangled and intertwined themselves with the other trees causing a canopy of multiple colors of leaves. The house alone was beautiful, it looked like a log cabin from the outside. It wasn't only pretty but it was big, almost too big. Maybe they had a big household? I heard my parents doors shut and I finally realized the car stopped a while ago. I snapped out of it and unbuckle my seat belt. I can feel my heart hammering against my chest and my stomach doing flips. I slowly get out of the car and join my parents.
"Are you ready for this?" My mom asks me with a hint of nervousness in her voice."Not exactly, but we are here so we may as well get this over with." I say shyly. My dad puts a hand on my arm and squeezes it lightly and we begin to walk up the steps. Before we get to the door a women opens it and her eyes are watery. Is she crying? What is wrong with her? Why did she have her hands over her face? Then it slowly hit me, that was Mrs. Pollack.
My mom quickly leaves my side to go embrace Mrs. Pollack. After they exchanged greetings my mom introduced my father and me to her. She was a very sweet lady, she looked fairly young, she had long brown hair, green eyes, she looked no taller than five ten, and she was beautiful.
She welcomed us into her home. The inside was just as pretty as it was on the outside. The hall was lined with some family photos on the walls, the walls were a creamy color, there was a nice sweet smell in the air but I couldn't figure out what scent it was. We get to the end of the hall and she guides us to the left, we walk into the living room. There's a huge fire place on the far left, a white couch sat on the opposite side, there was a flat screen that was sitting above the fire place, one wrap around couch sat in the corner of the room, the coffee table rested in the middle, decorations of different paintings and photographs hung on the walls, and a chandelier hung from the ceiling.
We were only there for five minutes before a tall boy made his way down the stairs. Before he turned to us he said "What is it that you need mom?" He then turned and he was handsome, even if his hair was a mess. He wore sweats and just a T-shirt. He had light brown hair, almost a light caramel color, he had bright green eyes, and a genuine look. Before anyone could say anything he muttered something. I couldn't make it out because it was so low.
Mrs. Pollack looks at him and says "Jasper darlin, you could have at least gotten dressed." They exchanged looks and the boy, Jasper blushes a little. He quickly says "I didn't think we were having company over. I wasn't informed. I could go change. After all it is rude to be in sweats and an old T-shirt with guest from your childhood."
Before anything else could be said he darted up the stairs. My mom and Mrs. Pollack began to catch up after Jasper left the room. I sat still and tried to calm myself down but deep down I had a feeling today wasn't going to be an ordinary day.
