"CAN you not leave it alone for a moment?" Edith turned to the girl whose eyes shone in annoyance. She glared heavily until the beady eyed man decided to speak once again. Edith desperately wanted to scream at him to shut the fuck up, but this woman seemed to be able to shut him up with little effort.
"Witchers can't be trusted-"
"I'm not speaking to you," The woman shot the beady eyed man a glare, gaze switching between both Geralt and Edith's figures before moving to the man infront of Geralt, "I apologize for my man's interference in your day." Geralt didn't once move, eyes still focused on the man as if he were prey. Edith watched the woman warily, like she had an ulterior motive they weren't aware of. She wondered why this woman would even give them the time of day, let alone assist them.
The woman's narrowed gaze didn't falter, "Hopefully he can improve his behavior by tomorrow's market." Edith smirked at the once-cocky-prick who now attempted to backtrack on his actions.
"Sorry, Renfri," He took one last distainful look at both Geralt and Edith, "Come on lads."
Edith snorted at his retreating figure, "Good riddance." Before she seated herself a few seats down from Renfri. She offered her a thankful smile, watching from the corner of her eye as the Witcher's shoulder loosened just a tad as the men left.
"Beer for my friends here and one for me," Edith immediately grimaced at Renfri's order as the quiet sound of music began started with the sound of silence being replaced with murmuring in the background. Edith was thankful the awkward atmosphere was now removed, but she'd still refuse whatever poison Renfri offered to buy her.
"I'll pass, thanks." Renfri didn't seem to care for her refusal, eyes narrowed on the man who seemed to be infinitely stuck on giving Geralt the evils. Talk about creepy..
The mans arms crossed in defiance, watching as the Witcher removed the cloak covering his head as he took a seat next to Edith. Renfri noticed this, patience wavering thinly.
"I am speaking to you now, good sir." Edith watched in amusement as the man picked up two glasses whilst Renfri chomped on her food. Edith looked to Geralt, a grin smacked across her face in the woman's antics.
"I like her a lot." Geralt didn't reply, but this didn't falter Edith's mood.
"Want some breakfast?" Renfri questioned, and before Edith could reply with an obvious 'yes', Geralt cut in with his usual indifferent mood.
"We're full," he paused for a moment, memory of the doe flickering through his mind, "Venison."
The man came back seconds afterwards, both hands busy with the cups. Edith watched him cautiously, and couldn't help but speak up when he placed the cups on the bar with a glare afterwards. Edith rolled her eyes.
"Who pissed in your milk this morning?" He didn't offer a reply, leaving one last glance as he stroppily strode away. Renfri let out a short laugh at the interaction before giving her input.
"I think I like you too."
Edith tilted her head, eyes containing the very common emotion of mirth as she sighed in false dejection, "'think'? This isn't a good start, is it?" Renfri smiled.
Geralt sighed as he took a swig of his drink, eyes faced forward as he listened to their conversation, however, he couldn't help but gaze over as Renfri downed the contents of her cup before slamming it down with a huff. Edith wrinkled her face. She didn't know how anyone could drink that stuff, it tasted like dirt and rotten food mixed together.
Renfri noticed their stares with a small grin of her own, "My mother, God rest her, would be mortified."
Geralt felt his lips twitch, "Our secret then."
A brief silence settled between the trio for a second, Renfri fiddling with the food on her plate as both Edith and Geralt watched her curiously.
"So, what brings you two to Blaviken, troublemakers?" Renfri pursed her lips, and Edith really wondered why Geralt chose this town out of all of them, "You came for a monster?"
Edith shook her head, memories of the prior day twirling through her mind, "Actually, this idiot decided to almost drown whilst we set up camp for the night." Geralt frowned, unimpressed.
"We were traveling near the swamp-" Renfri cut him off.
"That would be your mistake, then. Why wouldn't you travel by main roads?"
Edith furrowed her eyebrows, "We were, well, we were during the night."
Geralt looked forwards, orange eyes holding knowledge Edith didn't contain. The reason they set up camp so close to the creature was merely purposeful, not that he'd ever tell her that anyway. Geralt raised his eyebrows, white hair shielding the view of the side of his face.
"Besides, it's hard to make a living on main roads." Geralt began, diverting his attention onto Renfri once again.
Edith rolled her eyes, "What ever you say, Witcher." Renfri gazed at the both of them for a second, food momentarily forgotten in train of thought as she observed them.
"And you both desperately need money for new clothes."
