EDITH couldn't tell you how long they had been on the road for. A few weeks, maybe even a few months. The days and the nights seem to merge together, and went quickly with the company she held. The fire before her shimmered in the night as she stared at the side of Geralt's face in a comfort she enjoyed. He had been strangely pleasant towards her; and they'd only argued once or twice which was an achievement for them. Night had fallen upon them once again, cold creeping in like a shadow of darkness. Stars shined down at them, glaring at their figures in an embrace as fate ran it's course.

Edith's eyes always seemed to be locked onto Geralt, and his gaze lingered on her when she wasn't looking. She had huddled against herself, sat in a fetal position in hopes of perserving the last moment of warmth.

"Sit closer to the fire." Geralt instructed.

"I'm as close as I can get without setting myself alight."

"Stop shivering then, girl."

Edith rolled her eyes at him, and Geralt watched from the corner of his eye.

"I-It's cold. I can't help it."

"How do you expect to cope when winter comes?" His golden eyes turned towards her, and words momentarily got stuck in her throat. The light of the fire shone on the side of his face, and seemed to make his eye glow all the more.

His armour was no longer present, replaced with the under cloth he'd usually sleep in, and Edith prevented herself from oogling more than she already was.

Edith shrugged, "Dunno, I'll cross that problem when it comes."

"Hm," His eyes were still locked onto her, and Edith attempted to avoid the intensity of the gaze fruitlessly, "Are we going to talk about what happened?" He deeply questioned and Edith already knew the answer. No.

He was talking about what had happened in the cave weeks ago, but Edith didn't want to talk about what had happened. Not because she didn't trust Geralt, but because she was scared of what she had done. Geralt had taken her silence for an answer, the same silence she'd offer him every time he would ask the same question.

"Alright.." He had finally rasped, but his gaze didn't move away from her. She reminded him of the ocean. Her waves engulfed and swallowed him whole and swept him away from his own cocoon of safety, but it lulled him in a sense of peacefulness, of tranquility, like waves eroding the side of a cliffs edge, just like how Edith was eroding the edges of his mind.

"Do I have something on my face?" Edith blushed, brown irises gazing into the golden pools of safety. Golden pools of sunshine that had seen so much but lived so little. Geralt didn't reply, and Edith's heartbeat rose in sync with with the sounds of crickets calling in the distance.

Edith didn't know what to do when Geralt's face approached her own, she didn't know how to feel as the distance decreased with the tension beginning to explode. His golden irises darted down to her lips continously, and Edith froze like a scared doe. But she had wanted it to happen and hell, if that was a sin, she'd gracefully accept it with open arms. Geralt was built for sin, and she'd began to find a home within it.

His lips touched hers hesitantly, softly, as if she was a vase on the edges of breaking. His golden eyes were closed, and Edith's own eyes were beginning to shut with the softness of the atmosphere. Her hands rose to wrap around Geralt's neck, hands pushing the ashen hair out of the way as his own hands pulled her impossibly close.

Their lips danced like the roughness of the sea, like a storm whipping all stresses of peacefulness into the promise of chaos, into a whirl pool of emotions spiraling into one key emotion present like the vastness of the ocean; passion.

Hands clawed at eachother in a dance of lust, and two opposites combined into one within the powerful gusts of the waves whipping away any rationality. Rational thoughts were removed, replaced by a moment of freedom, and Geralt wouldn't have had it any other way.
