Y/N wandered around the City Of Tears, feeling the fat drips and drops of cold water fall on her shoulders as she meandered along. She spotted an elevator in the entrance of a broken down castle, and with glee, she jumped on and hit the lever to go up.

She stepped off the elevator and shook the rain from her shoulders, and then heard a grunting noise in front of her. She looked up and an infected guard was standing there, his eyes glowing orange and orange ink like liquids dripping out of his mouth, like the obnoxious rain. Y/N stiffened and brought her hand (Or whatever you call a bug hand idk lol) to under her shawl, which she had brought along for some protection against the rain, and felt the grip of her channeled nail.

She had been able to polish it up earlier because a nice bug had offered to fix it up for her in his hut for a ok price. The nail itself though, had a darker tale behind it though. Y/N had gone through training a while back, when the Infection had only begun to spread.  However, the Infection had gotten so bad for some unknown cause while Y/N had been reaching the end of her training, and husks were beginning to overcome the training palace, and so her master had sent her off, with one of his own nails, and he stayed back and fended off the husks that had arrived. Y/N had no idea if he was alive or dead.

Probably dead.

So she kept the nail with her at all times, as a reminder of who she could've been and who her master could still be. The guard husk seemed to spot her and started fast walking towards her. Y/N gripped the handle of the nail tight and when the husk was just close enough, she swung the nail, and cracked open the skull of the bug, orange ooze spilling out and clouds of Infection drifting in the wind. Y/N stared down at the corpse briefly before grabbing her shawl closer, putting her nail back under and carrying on as if nothing had happened.

After walking for a little bit and going up another few elevators, Y/N came across a bench. It was a very nice bench, beautifully crafted and the view was gorgeous, it was over looking the city, watching the rain fall. But this bench wasn't like the others. This bench was different because... someone was sitting on it? Now, this wasn't very common here in HallowNest because everyone else was sick, dead or dying or all of them. Such a lovely tourist attraction.

Yet here Y/N was, staring at this surprisingly cute bug who didn't seem infected? (◔ᴥ◔)⊃━☆゚.*) He had grey-blueish skin and a white face, with black eyes. He was wearing a cracked mask that had four eyes and a long nail was resting at the foot of the bench near his legs. Y/N must've not realized she had been staring, because the bug turned his head over and saw her, smirking. "I didn't know I looked that good!" He said in a playful tone.

Y/N blinked out of the stare and stammered "Oh, I- uh- I'm very sorry sir, it's just... I haven't really seen a friendly face around here for a while..." The bug smiled. "Yes, HallowNest isn't the most friendliest place at the moment.." He trailed off at the end, his eyes seeming to fog up. Y/N was about to say something else, but the bug spoke again, but his voice sounded a little more troubled this time. "I think I came from here... I had a mentor, her name, I- I... do not remember but this?" He tapped his finger on the cracked mask on his head. "This was her mask and I know it'll sound stupid but... I feel like she's almost- calling out to me? I don't know, it sounds stupid saying it out loud-"

Y/N took a step towards him. "No, it doesn't!" She found herself wanting to comfort this bug. He looked up, and his eyes seemed more focused now (I swear no pun was intended there-) He smiled and gestured to the bench. "Would you like to sit down with me? The view is beautiful" Y/N breathed a sigh of relief, as she had started to feel her legs fall asleep. She walked over to the bench and sat down, relishing the cool metal.

They sat in silence for a bit before Y/N realized that the bug was shivering. Without a word, Y/N took off her shawl and draped it over the bugs shoulders. He looked at her and smiled that adorable smile again. Y/N smiled back at him and for just a few seconds, they were staring into each-others eyes. The bug blinked though and leaned back, for he had been leaning in to get closer to her face (( ͡° ͡°))

Y/N blushed and looked away and more silence was between the two. After another little bit though, she heard the bug's calm voice again. "What is your name? I don't think I ever asked you." Y/N looked up. "It's Y/N. And what about you? I didn't catch your name either." The bug looked down at her and then looked back out the window at the lights of the city and the pouring rain, smiling.

"Quirrel. My name is Quirrel."
