Kohl makes a comment at an inopportune time.

Kohl surprised me with a date in the clearing and it turned into more than a date. His ability to get me naked is uncanny and welcomed. The date was amazing. He remembered my favorite food and drink as well as found the most beautiful spot in the clearing.

I had to know that he'd say something incredibly dumb and I had to know it would come while my mouth was full.

"Did I say something wrong?" Kohl asks.

I glare at him, "What do you think?" I ask.

"But I am your Alpha."

"You chose now to say that?" I ask, "And you waited until NOW to lay that information on me?"

"I'm very confused."

I frown at him, "I'm not a child. You can't command me to do things." I say angrily, "And now of all times?"

"Why is it so hard for you to listen to me?"

"You said "I forbid you, as Alpha, to go into town" and you're asking me why I'm pissed?" I ask, "We're having a great date. We're actively having sex and you choose that specific thing to say?"

"Seemed topical."

"Firstly, we're spending way too much time together and second, how?"

"I was feeling a specific amount of love for you at that moment. That love makes me want you alive." Kohl says finally buttoning up his pants, "I guess the moment is over."

"You think?"

"I'm just trying to protect you."

"Protect me? Whatever happened to both of us being Alpha?" I ask.

"You—you're the alpha. Second Alpha. The Sequel." He says digging his hole, "Luna."

"I've been frying my brain to learn all this wolf history so that you can see me as a viable Alpha."

"It's not unnoticed. The Elders, and pack, are very impressed. They have a lot of respect for you." Kohl says proudly.

"And yet you still think I'm some idiot you can boss around."

"Firstly, I'm quite aware that I can never boss you around." Kohl says with a smirk, "And second, you're my mate. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe, even if it pisses you off. I respect you more than you can fathom. I wish you could experience our bond like I do."

I stare at him. I can't stay mad at him. He is amused by my lack of understanding. As much as it pisses me off for him to pull rank on me, I know he means well. Kohl only pulls rank on me when he has no other option. I'd imagine he's afraid. I can't fault him for being afraid.

"I'm the Alpha. Keeping this pack safe is the most important job I have but it's second to you." Kohl says earnestly, "Can you understand that? That I put you above all else?"

I watch as Kohl stares into the distance. I follow his eyes as I see a rather large orange wolf bounds towards us. We stand and Kohl pushes me behind him. The wolf barks as it hops into the air. Kohl effortlessly catches it and snaps its neck. Kohl releases the dead wolf and it drops to the ground. I push my way in front of him and bend down, examining the wolf as it turns back into a rather puny human.

"What in the fuck was that?" I ask, "He was an Omega. What would make an Omega charge you?"

"He's a Rogue and probably the same thing any weaker wolf would be affected by." I stand and turn to him. He breathes in and I look down at the ground. He sighs, "It's not your fault. We are in the middle of a field."
