Parker

The pack lands are packed with Alphas and their wolves.

The bombshell came with many changes. Wolves who are not part of pack security are prohibited from heading too far from the pack lands, non-wolves (me), teenagers and children must be chaperoned by older wolves if they head into the forest and all wolves of age were recruited to fight.

I recruited myself to the annoyance of Kohl and Jasar. They agree to let me be a part of the battle only if I stay away from the actual battle. I agree as I have been working on a plan. Faust and I have also been trying to find the mystical item Gaius hid. I have one more hail Mary that Faust feels is obsolete. I sent him to gather supplies.

I find Kohl and Jasar after making sure Akari, Elizabeth and Nadira were okay.

I lean on the desk, looking between Kohl and Jasar, "What?" I ask.

"I'm fighting the urge to put you in the bunker." Kohl says nodding to Jasar, "Jasar offered to do it so I wouldn't have to."

"Just a reminder. I throw up in trashcans and the babies in my stomach are literally draining me. I'm not in a good mood today." I say taking a deep breath, "Besides, I'll be fine."

"You're—"

"A Baptist. A Demi-God. A snazzy dresser." I say, "Most importantly, I'm tired."

"Maybe you should rest."

"No, you don't—I mean, it's a lot sometimes. Werewolves, Gods, Vampires and still, it keeps going." I chuckle to myself, "It's been a wild ride, guys."

"It's almost over." Jasar inserts.

I nod. I look up when there is a knock at the door. Cassie pokes her head into the room and a smile creeps across my face. She squeals as she rushes in and hugs me, then the other two. I notice her mate, Tai Sing, enter behind her.

"I couldn't help but overhear your very downer conversation." Cassie says looking around, "Cheer up! We're going into a fight."

"My little sister. Always the optimist." Kohl says hugging her again, "You look good. Glowing."

"The skin?"

"Yeah, a new moisturizer?"

"No. Well, kind of. It is Eucalyptus with some kind of sage. I think it's Mediterranean."

"So smooth."

"You two are weird." Mickey's voice says through the air. My eyes move over to the door where a scruffy Mickey is smiling, "Didn't think I'd miss this, did you?"

"Mickey?" I ask.

I walk over and wrap my arms around his neck. It feels good to have my arms around him. It feels different. It makes me sad. Kohl clears his throat behind me and Mickey chuckles in my ear. I pull away from him and he looks down at my stomach.

"Hey, Mick." Kohl says.

I move to the side seconds before Cassie latches onto him. It appears he is being strangled. Cassie inhales and takes a step backwards. I watch as Kohl walks over and stands in front of Mickey. Mickey and Kohl stare at each other.

"Bro." Mickey says.

"Little Bro." Kohl responds.

Mickey reaches out to Kohl and Kohl takes his hand, pulling him into a hug. I roll my eyes. The two of them are going to be the death of me.

"This is a family affair. I should be going."

I watch as Jasar leaves abruptly. I excuse myself and follow him out of the room. I call out to him and he pauses. He turns to me with a look of annoyance.
