After finding one of the highest, rockiest hills and climbing it he sat on the peak and cried until the sun had started to set.
Sean would have expected him home by now. She'd be worried and mad if he was any later. But he didn't want to go home. He didn't want to ask Sean about the night they left, but he felt like he had to. He just didn't want to hear her admit the truth. He wanted her to tell him not to listen to those other kids and that they were just being mean, but he knew she wouldn't lie. He was afraid she might even tell him he was useless. He was afraid she'd abandon him.
