Rachel slammed her bedroom door shut once she got home. She was angry, furious, upset, sad. Finn broke up with her for like the fifth time that month and she was sick of it.

(the rope tugs, inside her mind)

She hated loving the idiot but he fwlt safe and he was kind. When he wasn't an ass.

"Rach, you have a visitor!" her father Hiram yelled from downstairs.

"Just send them up dad," sighing, she threw herself on her bed.

"Why so sad little star?" a very smooth voice said. Rachel turned her head from her pillow and saw her bestfriend and most favorite person in her world. Her older cousin, Alex Zantos.

"Finn broke up with me for Quinn again," she sniffled, wrapping her arms around Alex's waist and tugging her closer when she sat on the bed.

(the chain tugged her wrist)

"You need to let him go little star, can't you see that all he is doing is dragging you down?" Alex stated, moving so she rested against Rachel's head board and let the younger girl rest her head on her lap.

"I can't Alex, I love him,"

"No you don't, you think you love him, Rae, he hurts you and if it wasn't for you, he wouldn't be able to walk right now," stated Alex, combing Rachel's long brown hair back.

It was silent for awhile as the diva thought over Alex's words and knew she was right. She didn't really love Finn, she just figured it would be easier too. He feels safe and if she wanted to stay behind and live in Lima for the rest of her life then Finn was the best option.

But she doesn't want that, no she wants to go to New York. And hanging onto Finn will stop that dream in its tracks.

"I hate when you're right," she mumbled.

"But you love me none the less," Alex chuckled.

When Rachel went back to school she felt like a different person. After she talked with Alex, she went through her mind and came up with the only explination. Finn was bad news. She needed to let him go. That was the first step.

She decided to just ignore him since he ignored her. And for some reason, since she didn't chase him or hound him, he started to notice her more.

(the rope loosened)

But since that happend, Quinn grew more vicious and ordered more slushie attacks on her then normal.

(the chain tightened)

The latest slushie attack found Rachel in the bathroom, dripping with red and blue slush. She was busy stripping that she didn't hear the sob until she dropped the shirt she had on under her sweater.

The sob was heard the second time and Rachel froze. She stayed still till the sob got louder, this caused her feet to move and walk to the slightly ajared stall door. She slowly opened it and there sat a very weak and pathetic Santana Lopez.

"Santana?" she asked, afraid of the answer. The latina cheerio looked up at her, tears running down her cheeks and nose runny. She looked so pitiful that Rachel's heart broke for her.

"Are you okay?"

"You-your naked," Santana hiccuped. Rachel looked down and saw that she was in her laced black bra and skirt.

"Yeah, I got slushed again," she looked into dark brown eyes, "But what happend to you?"

Santana began to cry again. And Rachel chanced it, but walked into the stall and kneeled down infront of her classmate.

"Tana?"

Now Rachel expected a slap or a verbal abuse but what she didn't expect was for Santana to wrap her arms around her neck and cling to her as she cried.

"Brittany broke up with me because I wasn't enough, because she wanted more then sex and kisses, I told her to give me time but she said she didn't have time," Santana said between sobs and hiccups. Rachel felt her heart break again from how sad the taller girl sounded.

Santana cried for a whole hour, holding Rachel for dear life, sobbing and hiccupping. No signs of giving up.

"Santana, look at me," Rachel said. Santana just shook her head. Rachel sighed and pulled back, struggling to get the strong grip off her till she was face to face with her classmate.

"You need to stop crying or you will make yourself sick," she said softly, combing Santana's hair back from her sweaty face as she took deep ragged breaths, hiccupping when she did.

"Brittany will always be your first love but she will not be your last girlfriend, there are others out there, and don't give me that, but she was the one crap because I know for a fact that if it didn't work out this early then it wasn't meant to be," Rachel said right as Santana went to interupt her. The latina just hiccupped.

Rachel pulled her out of the stall and locked the bathroom door before moving back to Santana and wetted a paper towel, wipping at her tan face.

"You two are both wonderful and beautiful women, if you are not right for each other then "The one" is still out there and you both will find them, being in each others lives or not, you will find them no matter," said Rachel, wipping under Santana's jaw.

"Don't give up, keep at it and you'll find Mr. or Ms. right," she finished. Looking over Santana's gorgeous face, she made sure she didn't miss anything then gave her a sweet smile.

"Good as new,"

"Thank you,"

That got Rachel's attention as she stared at Santana. Who stared back.

"For not walking away when obviously you could," the taller girl continued, "and thank you for the advice, yeah it is gonna be hard getting over her but I know I will,"

Rachel smiled through her shock, "That's the spirit Santana,"

And if it wasn't shocking before, it sure as in hell was now because Santana actually gave Rachel a smile. Nothing snarky or mean, but a kind smile.
