19. Silence

Lucy's POV
"You what?!" Luke yelled angrily.
"You can't do that?" Jake yelled.
Then all I remember was yelling. I ran upstairs to my room and fell back on my bed. I couldn't breathe. I could snap myself out of it. Then all I remember was darkness.

Then silence.

Jakes POV

Luke was the first to notice Lucy was gone. The first to notice the silence. And the first to find her. He found her on her bedroom floor passed out and didn't even hesitate. He carried her straight to the car and drove straight to the hospital and ordered for me and our mother to stay here. I agreed willingly but our mother took some convincing.

She couldn't understand why he was making her stay but I could. He was looking out for Lucy.

The next few hours were spent completely in silence. Me sat on the sofa anxiously waiting for any news from Luke whilst our mother paced up and down beside me. I couldn't help but feel guilty, and I knew Luke felt the same from the look of fear in his eyes. He may know how to keep a calm manner but when it comes it his eyes, they give him away. But at the same time I was still frustrated.
"Why?" I finally mumble. And she stops beside me. I cant even look at her. Not yet.
"Why what?" she says nervously.
"Why do all of this? Let us build back up a bond, finally get our lives together... and then show up just to announce you want to take Lucy away again?" I say as harshly as I can.
"I didn't know it would be this..." She stops. And I look at her.
"Hard? Funny how you cant seem to remember who it was who made sure me and Luke never got the chance to say goodbye to Lucy." Then she hesitates and it all makes sense. "Thats why you want her back, isn't it? So we continue to take the blame for your mess. She hated us and you got your daughter all back to yourself."

After that I just grab my crutches and go back to the guest bedroom and wait for Luke to update me on whats going on.

Lukes POV

I was so scared when I found her. I'd let another one of my siblings down. But that didn't stop me from doing everything i could. Though its the waiting thats the worst part. I just want to know shes okay.

Then the nurse comes over and I practically jump out of my seat. She tells me Lucy's fine and I let out a big breath I hadn't known I was even holding. She went on to explain that they were going to keep her overnight but allowed me to stay with her the rest of the time she'd be there.

I walked in to the room where Lucy was sleeping and just sat down. Happy my sister was okay but sad that it had to come to this. I was right about to get out my phone to text Jake when, "Are you ok?" I look up and notice a sleepy Lucy looking at me.
"Seriously? Your in hospital and wanna know if I'm okay?" She laughs gently and I smile. "I'm better now that your okay." I say smiling.
"Please don't leave me..." she says before slowly starting to drift back to sleep. I hold her small hand in mine and rub my finger over the back of her hand.
"Never lulu, I'll never let anyone separate us." And I meant it.

if our mother wants to fight to keep us apart then she better be prepared to lose. I'm not losing my sister to her.

Not again. Not ever.
