You and Beverly were out shopping at the mall. It was Saturday and both of you needed a break from the boys, so why not? You both had a handful of bags with clothes in them as you continued to walk around. "So, y/n, are you excited about prom?" Bev asked you as her face lit up when seeing a pair of red shoes in the window of Vans. You walked into the store, already knowing she would want to try them on.
"Not really. I don't have anyone to go with," you explained with a blank expression. You noticed Bev's eyes move away from the shoes to meet your gaze.
"You have this thing called a boyfriend?" She reasoned, shaking her head as she looked for her size.
"Yeah, but he hasn't asked me yet," you said, hating that you sounded so pitiful. But you were a seventeen year old girl who hadn't been asked to prom, how were you supposed to sound?
"Maybe he just assumed you guys were going together since you've been dating for seven months," she shrugged and tried on the shoe.
"I guess. But I'd still like a promposal or something," you mumbled and watched her walk around. "Does it fit?"
"Yeah, it does. I think I'm going to buy it. Come on, its getting dark," she said and paid for the shoes.
You got into your car and started it up after Beverly got in. "You want me to drop you off?" You asked her as you backed out of the parking lot.
"Actually, could I spend the night at your place? I can't take much more of my father," she chuckled as you nodded.
"Sure, Bev." After about ten minutes you arrived at your house. You walked inside and were about to go to your room to set your stuff down, but Beverly stopped you.
"I can put your stuff away. Go back outside. I think it's ready," she said with a wink and walked to your room, leaving you confused. You stepped onto your porch and stared at your driveway, mouth wide open. You walked closer to it to see a question above candles (image above). You read the question over and over to yourself before you heard a sound from behind you. You saw Stan with a bouquet of your favorite flowers in hand and a small smile on his face.
"So? Will you go to prom with me?" He smiled and held the flowers out to you. You looked at him with love and took the flowers before wrapping your free arm around his neck, pulling him in for a hug.
"Heck yeah," you mumbled against his neck, causing him to laugh. You both stared at his work for a while before cleaning up the candles and taking him inside. You later found out Bev had recorded the entire thing.

Needless to say, you were nervous. You and Stanley had been best friends since elementary school, and you typically didn't go to dances. You knew he was dating you for your personality. Which, honestly, it is amazing that he values that. But you couldn't deny that you cared about your looks a little bit. Sure, he called you beautiful every day. But what if it was just a nickname? What if he didn't mean it? You shook your head free of negative thoughts as you heard a knock at your door. You raced downstairs in shorts and a bra, happy to see Beverly. Stan and Bill were coming to your house later to pick the both of you up. It was a double date to prom, and you were relieved. Bev was in jean shorts and a cute blouse with a smiled on her face as you pulled her inside. "Bev, thank gosh you're here!" You exhaled as you hugged your best friend tightly. She hugged you back before pulling away.
"Okay, we have three hours before the boys get here," she said, determined as she marched to your bathroom. You didn't hesitate when you followed her. Beverly knew what she was doing.
After three hours, you both had your hair and make up done and your dresses on. You were slipping on your heels as you heard the doorbell. Bev looked at you with a wide smile. "Come on!" She grinned and grabbed your hand, dragging you to the front door.
"Beverly, wait, I'm scared," you whispered before she got the chance to open the door.
"Don't be. Its just Stanley and Bill. They're our dates but they're also our best friends. And you have me, too. Its going to be fun," she assured you before opening the door. You smiled at Bill, but your smile soon fell as you realized Stanley wasn't standing there.
"H-he stood me up. It's because he doesn't want to go with me I knew this would happen," you whispered, turning to run to your bedroom before you heard Bev call your name.
"Y/n, he's coming," she said with an expression that said 'are you serious right now.' Sure enough, Stanley was running up your driveway. When he looked up and saw you, it was obvious he thought you were gorgeous. Beverly nodded toward the car, signalling for her and Bill to go wait there. You and Stanley were alone.
"Stanley you look amazing," you smiled, starting the conversation.
"Thank you for being my girlfriend," he whispered and pulled you close to him by your waist. "Gosh, you're beautiful," he said before pressing his lips against yours passionately.
"Hey, lovebirds! Get in the car or we'll be late!" You heard Beverly yell to you and Stanley. You pulled away from him with a big smile as he took your hand and walked to the car.
Your prom was unforgettable. You spent the night slow dancing with Stan, doing the electric slide with Bill, and the Cotton Eyed Joe with Beverly. What more could you ask for?
