~weeks after the events of part 1~

Times changed rather quickly for the two of you. Tsunami went from the rainforest to Jade Mountain, now handling dragonets that she couldn't wait to tell you stories about. Of course, you stayed around her when you could, especially since being around Jade Mountain was very... unsettling. Besides, it felt like an obligation to try and be close, protect Tsunami when you could, even though she grumbled about it and said she could handle herself. "I know how to be careful." She'd said, as the two of you flew out to one of your favorite spots, a clearing just outside of the mountain. "You don't always have to be around to keep me in check. I can do it myself, ya know."
"Oh, right. Like how you went to protect Queen Coral's eggs, on your own, after it was made clear to you that whatever was in there was killing the princesses." You contested, a smug grin on your face. She shot you a look, as if bringing that up was unfair. "Or how you went into the rainforest and got blow darts in your scales. Or-" You were about to go on, but Tsunami elbowed you in the shoulder, letting out a small huff. "I get it, already. I'm not the best at keeping my nose out of danger."

As the two of you landed, you shrugged, laying on your stomach in the warmth of the sun. "It puts me at ease when I know you're alright. I always have doubts whenever I'm not with you, so it just... helps." You admitted. To that, she grinned a little, as she rested next to you. Her tail gently coiled around yours, but at any moment, you knew it could strike if you did so much as annoy her. "It's pretty nice that someone worries about me just the right amount." Tsunami commented. To that, you gave her a confused look, and she rolled her eyes. "You know what I mean. Every person I've ever seen as a guardian either tried to imprison me or just didn't care about me at all. You just... you know." She glanced away, a small blush teasing at her cheeks. You smirked a bit. "No, I don't think I know."
As expected, her tail rose to whack you on the top of your head. "You know, squid-brain." She repeated, slowly shifting over to cuddle into your side. Her head rested against your shoulder, and her eyes stayed closed. Your wings fell around her body, wrapping her up and keeping her close. "You care in a different way. Enough to worry about me and enough to trust me on my own." She continued. "Even if you need your own watchful eye." A small smile  worked its way on her face, which made you a bit happier.
"Well, you know me. The enchanting SeaWing that cares a whole lot about you." You added on. Tsunami opened her eyes and gave you a funny look. "Hm... you could work on the 'enchanting' part. Right now I'd say you're more charming." She joked, one of her talons resting right on your snout. "Then again, I'm fine with just charming. It makes you yourself."
"Myself?" You asked, and she responded with a nod. You chuckled a bit. "And what exactly am I?"
"The weird SeaWing that decided to fall in love with a lost princess." Tsunami answered.

Once the two of you returned to Jade Mountain, the relief from the moment with Tsunami had worn off. There was a bit of tension that hung in the air from the recent events, the explosion in the class and the rampage of Icicle. Dragonets were anxious, so they looked to their teachers for support. The most you heard of was from Tsunami, and even then she wasn't completely comfortable with it.
The day went by as normal... for the most part. Aside from one detail. A storm passed by, and sometime during it, the Jade Winglet decided to leave. You hadn't seen it, but you knew that they'd left the very next day, seeing their caves were empty. And you knew it wouldn't sit well with Tsunami.
That day when you saw her, she seemed tense. She talked a little less, her eyes looked a bit more tired, and she seemed distant. Like her mind was somewhere else. "I don't like them being out there alone, Mako." She mumbled. The two of you stayed just outside of the Great Hall, which seemed so empty now. The sunlight that once poured in was now covered by a dark and cloudy sky. It didn't help the mood, but you still tried your best to stay positive. "I know you don't, but they're all together, at the very least. If they're going to disappear, at least they have each other. And they all know enough to protect themselves. Especially Qibli. You know that." You pointed out, trying to get her to see some bright side.
It didn't help. "I still don't think they're ready yet!" Tsunami cried, her wings flared. There were visible tears at the corners of her eyes, making your heart drop a little bit. "They're still just a group of dragonets, and they're out there alone! No one's going to be there to protect them or make sure they're alright, and they're probably going off to live up to some stupid destiny that they don't need to be a part of!"
Then it struck you, why it bothered her so much. You felt so stupid you couldn't see it before.

"You see yourself in them, don't you?" You asked. Tsunami opened and closed her mouth, trying to find words to speak. She couldn't find any, so she just looked to the ground. Her wings drooped, and she gave a slight nod, still avoiding your gaze. Her tears began to hit the floor, and any silence was swallowed by her gentle sobs. Slowly, you moved closer to her, and wrapped your wings around her. Tsunami laid her head into your shoulder, and continued her soft crying. No words needed to be said, the two of you simply stayed like that for a while.
Finally, when she had calmed down, you spoke. "I get that you're worried... but they're not going to rush into danger. The world isn't as cruel as it once was, and they have people to help them. They have each other. They have their tribes." You said, trying to sound as soothing as you possibly could. Tsunami took her head out of your shoulder, and glanced up at you. The tears left noticeable streaks on her scales, but you said nothing as you continued. "They have a lot more than you did. And I bet they're a bit more sensible than your group was." You teased. She rolled her eyes, but cracked into a soft laughter. "You don't know that for sure. I know for a fact that their RainWing is less sensible than ours." She added on, her demeanor becoming noticeable more lighthearted.

She glanced out to the cloudy sky, and sighed. "I do hope someone keeps them in check. Hopefully Moon. And I hope we find them soon..."
"We will." You reassured her, placing your claws over hers. "We will. But there's also a lot of others you have to hope for. You've got students here. The other Dragonets probably look to you for direction-which is probably not the best idea-"
Tsunami's tail whacked your head. "You loon." She huffed, but the smile was clear on her face. You grinned, before continuing. "-anyway, my point is, others are going to be looking up to you. You have to be hopeful for them, too. The Jade Winglet is important, sure... but the ones that are here are your priority. You can still protect them." You pointed out. She seemed to think about it for a while, then letting out a defeated sigh. "I hate it when you're right." She commented. Then there was a light twinkle in her eye. "Though, you did say one thing that's a little off." Tsunami prompted. You were about to question her, but she interrupted you by pressing her snout up to yours. She pulled back quick, and continued. "You're my priority, squid-brain." She gave you the sweetest smile, and twined her tail around yours. You were speechless for a bit, only finding words after about half a minute. "... G-Good to know." You mustered, making her chuckle a bit. She then pulled her tail back, and started walking. "Come on, Mako."
You gave her a confused look. "Where are we going, Tsunami?" You asked, following behind her. She lifted into the air, and you shot off right after. The two of you met in the air, and she shot you an enchanting grin. "Right now... who cares?"

Then the two of you were off, to wherever life took you.
