~The next day~

The morning after was going to be easy for you, until you remembered what had happened before, and the feelings from last night had hit you all at once. You wanted to stay curled up inside your cave, give yourself a chance to think things over... but then you could never get revenge for your dead sister.
I swear, Carnelian. I will find who did this. They'll pay with their life.
You curled in your wings from the position you'd fallen asleep in, and surprisingly, someone was waiting at the cave entrance. A big, friendly MudWing with a solemn look.
Clay.

"How are you holding up, Quail?" He asked. Even standing in one place seemed a little bit strange for the MudWing, you noticed, but you pushed that thought out of your head. Now, it was time for composure. "I'm just fine. There's no need to ask." You said, avoiding Clay's innocently accusing eyes. Just leave me alone, already...
The MudWing sighed, turning around. Then he looked to you with a smile on his face. "I know how difficult these things can be for you. Your Winglet is worried. Especially Moon. Take as much time as you need, or even go home if you want, but maybe talk to them first to ease their minds. We're holding an assembly in the Great Hall in a bit." He went and hobbled out of the entrance, and out into the halls. For a second, his words didn't quite register with you, but then it finally clicked.

They're worried about me? That's... news.
Thinking over your options gave you a chance to take a break. From thinking about Carnelian or her killer. What would happen if you went home? Would it matter to any of the Jade Winglet at all if you did? Probably not. You could probably not talk to any of them and leave Jade Mountain right now.
For some reason, the thought made you feel a twinge of sadness. He said 'especially Moon'. What does that mean?
Deciding not to think on it any further, you ventured out of your cave, and into the quiet halls. Dragonets in their classrooms, all uneasy from current events. You eventually found your Winglet, all chatting about themselves in Tsunami's class. The older SeaWing just seemed to be letting it happen at this point.
Tsunami spotted you first, and cleared her throat. "I didn't think you'd be joining us today."

It felt like millions of eyes were on you after Tsunami had spoken. The talking between the few dragonets ceased, their eyes now on you.
The RainWing, Kinkajou, noticeably shifted from her bubbly yellow to a more dull, grey color.
The SandWing, Qibli, spoke first. "You're her brother, right? I'm so sorry about what happened." He paced over laid a claw on your shoulder, and you instinctively tensed from the contact. As you eased up, Qibli flicked his wing towards the others in the group. "If you need anything, just say the word. I think any of us will be happy to help." Then a grin came across his face as he gestured to the IceWing. "Well, maybe not Winter."
Winter simply replied with a 'hmph'.

Kinkajou trotted up to you, her scales now a light green. "It must be so sad, what happened. Maybe you could come eat fruit with me! It'll help get your mind off it... maybe." She seemed a bit down, but still managed to be just as childish. "I hope you're okay." She added on, giving you a genuine smile. It made you feel a little bit better about this Winglet of yours.
"Uh... I'm going with Qibli. Whatever you need." The SeaWing chimed in, but when you turned your gaze to him, he seemed to shrink. "I'm Turtle, by the way. Just... don't ask too much of me, alright?" He seemed adamant about it, so you just nodded in silent agreement.
Moon slowly paced up to you, at first avoiding your eyes and staring at the ground. She didn't say anything for a bit, but then she looked up into your eyes, gently brushing your wingtips together. You could feel her tail twine around yours. "If I could help you stop hurting, I would... but I know there's only one way to do that. I want to help you find who did it." She whispered. For a second, you were stunned into silence. It was... too sudden.
"You do? Well, I guess I could use a little bit of help, if it makes things easier." You agreed, cursing yourself internally for it. What are you doing? She might be playing you, even now. Why would you-
You cut off the thought almost immediately, seeing the hurt expression that suddenly flashed upon Moon's face. Her tail unwound from yours, and the lost contact almost made you feel lonely. But, keeping composure, you swept your gaze around the others, and nodded to them. "Thank you. All of you. I know you're concerned, but I'm not going anywhere. You're down a SkyWing, after all."
The smiles that came across Qibli's, Kinkajou's, and Turtle's faces gave you a little feeling that maybe this was the right thing to do, after all.
"Okay. Well, if we're all done catching up with each other, we have some catching up to do." Tsunami reminded, getting back to what she was at, presumably before everyone starting talking.
