“It’s nice to see you again, Inosuke.”
Inosuke tensed. Slowly, he turned around, and saw Tanjiro seated beside his door, looking up at him with that irritatingly sweet smile on his face.
Tanjiro had arrived at around twelve in the afternoon. He’d knocked and called for Inosuke several times, to which Inosuke had yelled for him to leave. Several times.
Now, it was two-thirty, and Inosuke had assumed Tanjiro would have left. It seems he was wrong.
With a happy hum, Tanjiro stood.
“I was worried you’d escaped out the window, or something.”
Inosuke scowled, standing up straight as Tanjiro walked over.
“I thought I told you to leave me the hell alone!” he barked. Tanjiro sighed, tucking his hands in the pockets of his checkered hoodie.
“Well, I can’t do that. We’re partners!”
“No, we’re not!”
“We are! ‘Crow’ sent me the message saying—“
“I saw the damn message!” Inosuke interrupted, lunging forward and grabbing Tanjiro by the collar. “I mean I’m not going to be partners with you. Now, leave me alone.”
Tanjiro seemed unfazed. He stared up at Inosuke, a resolute look on his face.
“Inosuke…”
Inosuke tightened his grip.
“Are you angry about the first time we met?”
“!”
Did…
Did he actually bring that up?! Inosuke couldn’t believe his ears.
He let go of Tanjiro.
“You… you little…”
Tanjiro smiled. “I’m really sorry if my headbutt hurt that badly… but we really are partners. I’m afraid there isn’t anything we can do about that.”
“You could just quit,” Inosuke hissed.
“I don’t want to,” Tanjiro hummed stubbornly. Despite how nice he was, he could also get irritatingly stubborn.
“You little--!”
“Inosuke, look. I know you don’t like me much, but we have to make this work-“
“I don’t have to do anything.”
He shoved past Tanjiro and went to enter the house again, but Tanjiro stopped him, grabbing his wrist.
Inosuke whipped around again to face Tanjiro, about to yell again, when Tanjiro suddenly spoke.
“Let’s go on a date!”
