Third Person
The sound of the wind sang across a beach. The water flowed back and fourth and the waves collided with each other. There has been vehicles that were idle as rust had taken its form. The noise of an engine revved as what seemed to be motorbikes passed by as it hovered over the cracked concrete. The vehicles drove, following the path, seemingly searching for something.
They went down a path, only to stop underneath a crumbled bridge. Humanoid creatures hopped off of the 'bike' as they scoured the land. Their faces resembled that of an arachnid with several eyes and mandibles. They approached several car wreckages, that have either turn upside down or on their side. They saw several armored corpses as they began to take apart the armor. One of the creature picked up a rifle as it examined it before tossing it to the side.
It approached one of the vehicles before tripping over something. It looked to it's feet as the other one made a noise that resembles a snicker. It snared back as it looked to the floor. It was a body that had its lower half covered in sand. The creature bent down and began to disassemble the pieces of armor such as the shoulder plate, forearm plate and the plate on the back. A faint gunshot was heard as the creatures snapped toward the noise.
They faced each other and bolted to the vehicles. As they settled in they sped off toward the noise. After awhile, a faint humming was heard. A robotic hum with an illuminated glow was passing down the path. A small beep was heard as the owner finally revealed themselves as a small orb. Light surrounded it, but what seemed to be its 'eye' continued to move around before looking at the destruction of vehicles. It moved over to one of the bodies and it seemed to have scanned it as a light flashed over one of the corpses before disappearing. It hovered over one and scanned it before it flinched back. Suddenly it pulled apart before energy charged up and released into a ball of aura.
"Guardian? Are you there?" It's voice was feminine, but rather timid.
The once corpse's hand moved a bit before gripping into the sand. It began to crawl out of the sand as its lower half revealed. It was on its hands and knees, motionless, before sitting up and sat on their legs. It's face was a human male. He was gasping as he felt his chest and looked around. His eyes locked on to the floating orb as it backed up slightly. He stood up at his full height as he stumbled a bit.
"O-Oh Guardian! Are you okay?" It floated in front of him as it spun a bit. "I know t-this is all confusing, but I am a Ghost. W-Well your ghost actually."
"...Where am...I?" His breathing began to settle down as he limped out from under the bridge.
"You're on earth. You're in what your people has called the Maine or Maine." It circles him before facing away and looked around. "We need to get to the City, or the Last City. T-To do that we need a ship."
"Who am I? And what happened to me?" He said as he looked down to his body as there was his damaged chest piece.
"From what I gathered, you are Y/N." He looked up as a 'ship' flew by him. "From your location, you d-died in a patrol. Must have been bad since your armor had bullet wounds."
"Stuttering...you are stuttering." The ghost recoiled back as it stared at the Y/N.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to displease you. It's just been so long since I started my j-journey to find my guardian."
"You didn't do anything wrong." He paused a bit before continuing."I know what some things are, but I don't remember anything. Like what happened in that 'patrol'. I just remember the basic stuff...Guardian... What is a guardian?"
"A guardian...I'll t-tell you later." The Ghost flew forward as it separated into pieces and let off that same aura shield. "There's no Fallen near by. I say we should let's start heading south. First let's find you a weapon."
Readers POV
I walked toward the ghost only for it to disappear. I stepped back only to hear it's voice.
"I-I'm still with you... I'll be...in your head. This'll be safe for me since I can't fight."
I let out a sigh of relief as I looked around. I walked forward and noticed the ocean in front of me. I know what it is, but it seems so new to me. Looking around, a small glow had caught my interest. It was a rifle, but it seemed highlighted.
"T-Take this." I picked up the rifle before a small amounts of color suddenly appeared on it. "I fixed it a bit. You should be able to use this. Pull the trigger to shoot and look down on the sights to know where to shoot. This has low ammo so be careful."
I nodded as I turned and began to walk up the path. There was a road and several empty vehicles. I approached some and saw many bodies with similar armor as me. I crouched down to one of them and saw a mask. Picking it up, my ghost appeared in front of me as seemed to scan it. It's eye turned toward me.
"I-It's in good condition. I can adjust the size, but I can't change it's design." I picked it up and put it on. "I-It's kinda like a balaclava. Just with a visor."
"I've been...thinking." I held out my hand and it floated over it. "What do I call you? You told me my name, but do you have one?"
"I-I am a ghost." It continued to float. "I was granted by t-the Travel to find my guardian."
"So do I call you Ghost?" It spun around before facing me again.
"Y-You can give me a name if you want." I pondered a bit.
"I'll think of one." It disappeared over my hand.
Following the main road, with the help of my ghost, it seemed pretty quiet. Not much of anything other than the occasional animal. We switched paths and went into the forest. My ghost stayed hidden and notified me of any new points of interest. As I was walking down a hill, I heard noises. Similar to a creature or a machine, I couldn't make it out. I approached the direction where the noises were and my mind couldn't process what I've been seeing. Creatures of some kind breaking down vehicles and placing the parts into their own ship.
"T-These are called The Fallen." Her voice echoed in my head I continued to be astonished. "Scavengers. We should go and- W-WATCH OUT!"
I heard footsteps from behind and jumped to the side and turned. It was a fallen with a long type weapon. The blade sparked with a light blue tint of energy. It thrusted it to me and screeched. Fear built inside me and I reached for my rifle and fired blindly. It stumbled backwards and collapsed. My breathe began settle a bit before hitching as I heard heavy footsteps. I slowly turned and I couldn't register what happened fast enough. A sharp pain erupted from my stomach as I was suspended into the air. I was faced to face with gigantic member of the Fallen group. It looked bigger with two types of weapons. I dropped my rifle and grasped the blade. I looked to the creatures eyes as it propelled me into the opening of its squad. I rolled across the ground and laid there. The creatures began to surround me as my eyes grew heavy.
My eyes slowly opened as I was faced with a cloudy sky. I quickly sat up and I looked around. The ship was fully wrecked and pieces of scrap metal were everywhere. Some of my armor was also gone, with the exception of my mask and both of my vambraces. My ghost suddenly appeared in front of me as it float close.
"Are you alright? Y/N?" Her voice, I couldn't tell if it was worry or relief.
"I-I'm fine...How am I alive?" She disappeared as fully stood up.
"I revived you." I looked toward where I saw that 'fallen'. "I can revive, heal, and craft ammo for you."
"What was that thing?" I approached the area and saw my rifle. "What type of fallen was that?"
"It was a Captain." Captain? I sighed as I inspected the weapon. "There are several varieties of fallen, but let's talk about this later. We should continue to find a ship."
"Y-Yeah." I looked back into the rubble of scrap. "How far is a working ship?"
"5.3 miles away." I huffed and began walking to the marked location. "We should be careful with combat for awhile since the enemies we'll be facing will tough."
"Alright, thanks."
