[ begin. ]
yeosang wakes up to the sound of his alarm clock. quickly, he shuts off the awful contraption, rewarding himself with a peaceful silence in turn. he enjoys the quiet because he can think and it's not an overwhelming atmosphere. this is one of the other reasons that he is an aid in the school's library.
the boy wrestles with his sheets as he lies in bed still, tossing and turning as his deep sleep leaves his body and he slowly but surely wakes up. this goes on for forty minutes and all the while his blonde hair only gets more tousled. he sets his alarm for an hour earlier than he needs to wake up because he really and truly is not a morning person. once he's out of bed, sure, but not until he takes his first steps of the day and drinks his coffee.
the sleepy boy slowly exits his room and shuffles to the kitchen, rubbing the bleariness out of his eyes. his mother is in the kitchen, already pouring him a cup of coffee as she had heard his reluctant footsteps approaching. his father is away for a two day conference at the moment, he left earlier this morning. yeosang hugs her good morning and when he pulls away, he takes his coffee with a "thanks."
his mother smiles fondly at him. "i'm surprised you're up this early. i wasn't expecting you for another twenty minutes or so," she says with a light laugh.
"i don't know. i guess i'm looking forward to today?" yeosang reasons.
"oh? what's happening today, hmm?"
"well, i made a friend yesterday and he said he's going to introduce me to his boyfriend at lunch today and, when i'm ready, his other friends so we can all become friends," yeosang rushes out, excitement bubbling within his lean body.
"i'm proud of you," mrs. kang lets out after she processed this information. not once has her son ever had a friend that was more than just a simple acquaintance. she was truly happy for him.
yeosang reddens in embarrassment, "thanks, mom." he begins to sip his coffee, deeming it cool enough. the hot dark liquid feels good going down his throat, leaving a satisfying feeling afterward. he pours himself a bow of cereal after finishing the cup, sitting down at the table to eat.
;
having finished breakfast and brushing his teeth and hair, yeosang finds himself staring at his clothes that hang in his closet. he pulls a pair of tan pants from the hanger and an oversized crew neck in the shade of baby blue. as always, he wears his white socks and shoes and his wire-rimmed glasses to finsh the look. he feels cute and small, drowning in his top.
he grabs his backpack, which is a light grey with white clouds on it, his phone, wallet, and book before he makes his way to the living room. yeosang shouts a goodbye and gets into his car, driving off to school.
the drive is filled with quiet music that yeosang sings to just as quietly, his confidence low because his throat is still scratchy from waking up.
even though yeosang takes forever to get up and get going, he still arrives at school on time so he can go to his locker and slowly see his way to his first class. he's never been particularly happy for his first class, but today he is. geography. he gets to see wooyoung.
five minutes before the bell rings, yeosang is pulled from his book when someone taps him on his left shoulder. he slowly turns his head and is met with a big smile.
"morning, yeosang," wooyoung beams, taking a seat next to yeosang.
"that's not your assigned seat, you know," yeosang replies.
"i know, i'll move in a minute."
yeosang slowly nods his head and sits back in his chair, closing his book and focusing his attention on his new friend.
"oh yeah, good morning to you too," he remembers.
then the bell rings, signaling the start of the school day.
"okay, i'll see you at lunch, right?" wooyoung reaffirms, his eyebrows raise and punctuate his question.
"yeah," yeosang says simply.
;
three minutes into lunch and yeosang is already munching on his sandwich in the library office. he hums and smiles in approval at the taste, his cheeks squishing upward. he shakes his head in delight as he continues to eat.
"yeosang, are you here?" wooyoung's loud voice calls.
yeosang walks out of the office as a form of answer. "yeah, i told you i'm always here at lunch." he walks out toward wooyoung and sees his boyfriend, presumably, standing behind him. he doesn't look as if he's shy, but rather he looks as if he's being cautious. like a person who is approaching a timid stray dog. he doesn't want to scare yeosang, who in turn smiles at him once he's analyzed his behavior.
wooyoung laughs, "i guess you're right! anyways, this is my boyfriend."
"hi! i'm choi san," he greets kindly (and loudly). yeosang looks at his face for a moment and recognizes that he sees him around the school quite a bit. he just never talks to him.
"hello, i'm kang yeosang."
"it's nice to meet you," san says with a smile. "wooyoung was excited to introduce you to me."
yeosang cocks his head to the side curiously. "really?" wooyoung nods enthusiastically. "why?"
"because you're nice and cool and i want us to be good friends!"
san and yeosang look at each other, look at wooyoung, and then smile.
the trio falls into a nice conversation and get to know each other. a few times, it was a bit awkward when they ran out of things to say on a certain topic, but it wasn't a bad awkward. more like, just a void of sound that wasn't wanted. for once, yeosang was happy to be surrounded by noise rather than craving the void that is silence.
[ end. ]
oops he still hasn't met anyone other than woosan and it's chapter five. i guess that's not too bad but still-
