As soon as the duo was back from the city, Xue Liang stopped them in the hall. "A'Han, bad news!" Xue Liang grabbed Xue Han's robe while trying to catch his breath.
Xue Han held him tight, "what happened?"
"A lot happened!" Xue Liang dragged Xue Han and Hong Chao to an empty room. Closing the door, he said "we received a letter from Lu Clan. They say they will join hands with Xue for the throne!"
"What?!" Xue Han and Hong Chao shouted at the same time.
"My father and my brother will go to Lu in two days to discuss the matter."
Although Xue Liang was also Xue ZhaoZe's son, he was very different from his father and brother. He was more like Xue Han, gentle in his nature and a supporter of peace. Xue ZhaoZe was also aware of this situation and despised his son for his weakness. Therefore, he preferred to exclude Xue Liang from military issues but luckily, Xue Cheng liked to brag about his importance so he told the news to his brother.
"If it happens, Xue won't wait for the king's death but will attack directly," Xue Han commented as he knew his uncle very well.
Hong Chao shook his head with disbelief. He wouldn't dare to wait anymore. If he couldn't catch Xue ZhaoZe before his leave, he wouldn't have any chance in the future, so everything was dependent on those two days. With Xue ZhaoZe's death, his revenge would be taken, the throne would be Hong's and Xue Han would be saved from his malice.
"What do you think?" Xue Han noticed that Hong Chao was dead silent next to him.
"Hong won't let them do that."
"Hong won't learn about the attack, only seven people know about it." Xue Liang couldn't understand what he meant.
Xue Han was staring at Hong Chao but his gaze was very understanding, not accusing. Hong Chao averted his eyes because of his guilty conscience. After Xue Han murmured something and sent Xue Liang back, they sat in Hong Chao's room to discuss the matter.
"I have to inform Hong, I'm sorry but I can't pretend as if I didn't hear what Xue Liang said." He had to lie to him again as he couldn't say that he was going to kill his uncle.
Xue Han nodded, "I know but I can't help you to deliver the message, I'm sorry."
Hong Chao reached and held Xue Han's hands, "I would never ask you to do that, sugar so no need to say sorry," he said reassuringly and stood up, "go now, the less you know, the better it is."
Xue Han nodded again and left the room with a heavy heart. He was betraying his own clan by letting Hong Chao to inform Hong but... He felt so lost and hated himself for that.
